arnott rear bag failure?
Sitting waiting for a tow truck with my drivers rear tire nicely tucked in the wheel well. I swapped in arnott rears about 1.5 years ago and hoped to not worry about the rear bags ever again. Anyone else had a failure on these? Thought they were supposed to be pretty reliable?

Nope! No warranty. I found one with only 34k miles though for a nice deal so it wasnt terrible as far as replacing a transmission goes. Still not sure what happened to the original one it hasn't been taken apart yet. Lots of metal shaving in the pan and no forward motion when any other time then dead cold. Just the getting stranded 2 times in a month makes me feel less than trusting of a car. Waited 5 hours for a tow truck today.. wtf.

I dont think labor is covered. Also shipping might be covered one way.

Unfortunately that won't be enough - we need an invoice. The folks up in Tech Support will help you out. They can usually locate invoice numbers based on where you bought it.

rare to fail
We have installed over 30 of these and zero failures if "installed correctly " Look at the part before you return it and make sure it didn't get " pinched" during install. Don't ask me how I know this can happen.

Sorry your part needs to be replaced. Those have been very reliable and for the most part trouble free since released in 2012. Arnott DOES pay shipping back to you of the part if your if under warranty. Also, (little known fact) If under warranty, and in the Continental US, you can request a shipping label for the part you want returned and we'll email one to you. We do not cover labor or towing. Normally the process is that you will call our tech support 1-800-251-8993 and get an RMA#. Then you send us the part that needs replacement and once checked we will send you a new one. To speed things up you may wish to just buy a new one while on the phone getting the RMA#. We'll send that right out so you can repair your vehicle while you are sending us the bad part. Once we get your part we will refund the part you bought.

Say what, easy to take out ? I watched the Arnott video and it was a major job. Remove complete exhaust, drive shaft, cross member, sway bar loosened and car raised off of it +more.

Arnott New E-Class Rear Air Spring Installation
There is an air reservoir for this spring on the other side of the rear axle (and exhaust) from the spring. Arnott's installation video includes steps that will enable you to remove that reservoir. Since the Arnott designed rear spring doesn't need it, we've seen multiple posts by installers who just left the reservoir where it is. Those who have done it this way do not seem to be reporting any negatives and leaving the reservoir won't void our warranty. I spoke with one independent mechanic who said it takes him about 45 min per side doing it this way vs. almost 8 hours the traditional OE way. Arnott has not tested this method and includes the instructions for removing the reservoir in the video and installation manual.
Here is an example of this kind of short cut installation from this forum: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ws-arnott.html

Thanks Doug for the link, don't know how I missed that thread. BIG difference in the install.
Based on that video, I can see why the dealer gets big bucks for this. (not to mention the cost of the struts)
I haven't looked yet, however, I assume that the fronts aren't too difficult.
