SBC Help

Had a friend hook me up to STAR since I have the "BRAKE Visit Workshop" error showing in grey.

From the quick test these are the codes I have printed, just listing SBC faults:
P20B7-008: SBC low- voltage, check current and voltage. No control module defective P1999

P20E2: Unauthorized ambient condition for SBC request for idle speed increase

C2131: Pressure reservoir faulty (I sure the above is not as important as this so looks like new reservoir or whole new SBC unit)

I assume taking to the dealer won't help me much but just gathering more info before I try the dealer for possible warranty work, car is a 2005.

Those are covered for 10 years / unlimited mileage. Just take it to the dealer and they will fix it for free. Good luck!

10 years 100000 mile warranty on all SBC cars.
Take it in and say the brakes feel like they are not working. Dont try to get into too much technical detail with the SA.

Unfortunately the pressure resivior is not covered. It is about $600 plus labor.

Correct. Pressure reservoir is not covered. I had to replace mine a couple months ago when I got the same reservoir fault code. It can be replaced by yourself if you like fairly easily.

Easy to replace mentioned above. If memory serves me right a 17mm wrench. Screw off and screw on. Be sure to deactivate SBC. Also a bleed is needed after , with Sds. Be sure to perform a test of the reservoir after or the code may remain current.

I wondered about that. Doesn't it say HIGH PRESSURE DO NOT REMOVE!
So you just unscrew it anyway, No big deal?

IIRC if you unplug your SBC cable, it won't pressurize when you open the car/start the car like normal. That's usually what that pump noise is when you first get into your car in the morning.

I would definitely deactivate the system, it doesn't not get depressureized by just unplugging it.

I get the P20B7-008 code: "High idle speed due to SBC undervoltage Check the current and voltage in the vehicle No faulty control unit".
No other codes which are related to SBC. No braking issues either.
I do have some transmission issues and codes but I don't think they are related.

Should I check the voltage and current of the SBC or just of the batteries?
How would I check the voltage and current of the SBC?

Thanks in advance

the SBC system is covered under warranty just take it in and have them take care of it. I had my SBC unit and pressure reservoir replaced last year free of charge.

Thanks. I will check with my MB workshop.
My car is 20 years old. Would be great if it is still covered under warranty.

Still curious:
- How would I test the voltage?
- What would be the symptoms of a bad SBC?

I have a 2005 CLS55 and mine was replaced under warranty earlier this year. You need to get it checked out by an official MB dealer, they will inspect according to some script to see if it falls under warranty.

I got these warnings first: https://mbworld.org/forums/c219/8443...ml#post8651162

And then I forgot about it, then on the highway doing 60 the assisted brake was gone (scary!). I do not recommend this experience
