Ask them what they did.

My buddies E55 recently broke down after getting a new tank, sender, and pump. Car is at the dealer waiting for verdict.

I would just not fill up all the way just to be safe.. That's what my dealer told me and they didn't even try to fix it temporarily..

they replaced the pump and filter.

They replaced the pump and filter but I'm not sure if they touched the sending unit. The service guy said it was all one unit? They'll replace the tank once the part comes in.

Got mine changed also this past week. New part number. 2114700300 . TS FUEL TANK SYSTEM

Apperantly this is a new part with pumps and senders in the tank. I asked the technician how much better it will be than the older version and he said we should be good for a while. We will see...

So this a a complete assembly for them to swap out based on just this 1 part numbers instead of all the individual ones? Any word on how quickly they are getting these to dealers to fix cars waiting?

Yup this is a complete assembly, supposedly the purge is better ,we will see in time.

I had ordered the parts and took 4 months to get in. When they got in I brought my car to do the work. I was not going to leave the car there for 4 months.

Just started to notice strong gas smell in the cabin a few days ago, seemed to coincide with the spike in weather & first consistent week over 80. Pulled out the rear seat today, and found the pool of gas sitting on the sender. Its shooting out from where the fuel line connects to the sender nipple, im assuming the plastic nipple is cracked &/or needs a new hose & ear clamp. The car and my garage reek of gas now. Going to let it pool up again, put everything back together & going straight to the dealer tomorrow. I'm freaking pissed! this is my summer car & now as the summer officially starts I'll be waiting on repairs that look to be taking a long time for others so far. ..& to boot, my sub went bad, and my amp seems to be going too..

Just noticing this thread... haven't been on the board much as I've been focusing on another car... and a boat...

But... when my car sits in my garage...there is a SIGNIFICANT smell of gas. So much so that sometimes my wife won't go in it. I of course go out there and huff it at all... (kidding)

Think that may be due to this issue or another?

The smell isn't really inside the cabin... it's outside.

Just dropped my car off this morning and took a loaner. Hope I don't have to deal with BS when I hear back from SA later

Anyone know the part # of newest fuel pump / fuel sender?

I bought a replacement pump from FCP Euro last spring (2014) with the intention of swapping my leaky pump out ASAP - but in July my house burned down so I've been busy dealing with that mess since which included building a new house and dealing with the insurance company. So I am finally back in a new-to-me house and now that I have the time and place to work on it again decided today to refresh my memory on the details involved in swapping out the pump. Low and behold, what do I see - warranty extension!! Called the dealer and I'm dropping it off on Tuesday. They have two tanks in stock right now and I think those are spoken for but they're giving me a loaner and hopefully won't be too long until I get it back. I wonder what a brand new $300ish airtex pump for a W211 is worth these days seeing how I won't be needing it and MB is fixing the problem free-of-charge now?? Any chance of FCP taking it back at this point for store credit?

Purchased it a year ago? Unlikely they'll take it back.

I would sell it on eBay, and allow international buyers. Parts are still in short supply, so you'd probably sell for close to what you paid for it new.

Has anybody noticed their fuel gauge taking 20-30 minutes to "update" after a fill up? It'll go up one or two bars but it will slowly go up after driving around. The IC will update a bit quicker...

Nope. They should have replaced the fuel level sensor when they did the repair work. I'd bring it back in like hulk said it's not normal.

When I picked up mine all is good, cel was still on , seems they didn't run star to clear codes, so I cleared the code with the dashdaq and went on my way, today the p0444 code came, back, I'll bring it back to make sure that it's not stored deep in the ecu that only star can completely clear

Guys make sure the dealer is replacing everything. Verify parts are actually new (or ask the dealer to see the old broken parts they pulled out).

My buddy just got his E55 back with "all new everything", only to have the fuel pump fail on him less than 3 months later. Well low and behold, the dealer never replaced the fuel pump when they did everything else (they only replaced tank and sender), but the dealer still billed MB for a new pump that was never installed!!

So now he's getting the fuel pump replaced for real, but he's still getting stuck with a $280 bill for them to fix a burned out fuel pump relay.

I don't know if anyone else has had issues with the following but my SA from my stealer has flat out refused to get me a loaner because I did not buy the car from their dealership. I was under the impression that since this an extended warranty claim that a loaner would be something I am entitled to receive. Also of note they have claimed the extended warranty only covers the tank and not the sending units etc. The fuel smell is back and pooling once again and do not believe I should be without a car for 4-8 weeks plus paying for my own replacement. I wouldn't be averse to using a different stealer in the NYC metro area either.

Download and print out the settlement mbusa made and bring it to the dealership and call mbusa in front of them and make them speak to them as well. Loaner will be given free of charge and ALL components must be replaced free of charge.

I would call Mercedes corporate office. I provided this number in a earlier post. I had to have this done on a car and they tried the same thing. Tried to say only the tank was covered and I would have to pay for the sender's etc. Needless to say, they did all the repairs needed which was the tank, sending units/ pumps, seals, and gave a loaner for the entire time it was in there waiting for parts.
