In my case, I brought the car in with the letter, they had no knowledge of it, and called their rep. The rep confirmed, and told them to order the parts. Currently, the rep is having the vin manually entered into the VMI so it shows up as covered since it won't show up in their system for a while.
In my case, my 07 E63 has a crack in the tank itself, and MB authorized them to replace the tank, pump, filter, senders, etc as one entire assembly. Not sure if they are doing this with all, but according to my service advisor, the rep said they were replacing the entire assembly since leaks are likely with the other parts, and at 98k miles, would rather replace the entire thing than have it come back and back.
As an FYI, the parts alone are well over $2,000 and labor involves having to drop everything.. lots and lots of work.
My dealership is Holloway MB in Manchester, NH and they are familiar with it now, so anyone in New England with issues should check them out... great dealership in general too.

How long will th repair take? And most importantly what kinda loaner did they give you? :-). I haven't heard anything from my dealer and dropped it off Saturday. Called today, left message with secretary and sill didn't get a call back haha. I'll tell you though I think my e55 gets almost he same gas mileage as thus e350 I'm driving. Best I seen was 20.7 babying it. It feels slower than my wife's glk350 lol

The tank assembly comes in tomorrow, and it should be done end of day Friday. Apparently its a big job to change them out on these cars, since everything has to come down first. I got a GLK350 for a loaner, which I am not a big fan of, but not a bad car.

I have called twice with no solid answers. I have a feeling they are trying to dodge it. I am going to fill my tank to the bring and pull in the service department and leave it reaking of gas in the lane until they agree to fix it. Should be good advertising for MBUSA.
I can't fillup past half tank now.

All I did was schedule the appointment, asked if they wanted it tank full or empty, and they said full so it will show the problem. I brought it in full reeking of gas and with warning lights on, and then showed them the letter and explained that it should all be covered.
They said they didn't know anything about it, but would check it out to see what it entails. I told them to talk to their rep, who should know about it, and if they had any issues to let me know and I'll call MB USA and have them authorize the repairs.
Soon as they called their rep later that day, they were familiar with it and gave the ok to fix it, and told them to order the entire tank assembly with all pump, filter, and sender components. However, the rep did say that he would have to manually get the VIN into the VMI so that the dealer will get paid as warranty work, so although its covered, as of right now it looks like the rep has to manually still approve it and get it through, otherwise the dealer can't put it in as normal warranty work and will not get paid for the parts or labor.

my car sometimes does have the smell of gas in the interior but lately I have been getting a gas cap warning even after I replaced it with a new factory gas cap. Would that be a related problem? I just called my dealership and they are researching the recall right now.

I have not been on for a while but this is amazing news. You guys are awesome. I paid out of pocket for this repair and it was pretty expensive. Is there anyone who has gotten a refund for this? I'm going to take to stop by my dealer and ask them about it.

Well the official document has been posted in Netstar for all the dealerships to be aware now. It says AMG models not included at this time though. I'm wondering if it's due to the different parts and work instructions.

So my experience was that I called MBUSA, and they are aware, and that the OWNER letters are going out and will have reimbursement instructions.
Further than that, she said I could go in with the letter I linked to previously on this thread, and try that, though if in no hurry, I should basically wait for the warranty extension letter.

ok so I went to my dealership and they did find the warranty but it said AMG's are not included at this time ! WTF....
I called MBUSA and the guy was helpful but he was reading the same thing about AMG's not being included at this time. He told me I have two options,
1. get it diagnosed and the cost, send the info to MBUSA and a case manger will make a call.
2. pay and get reimbursed when/if extension goes to AMG's
so my question is how did ppl already get this approved being AMG's are not included at this time. its dumb one would think the AMG's would be first ?
