!!! ATTENTION !!!! - FUEL LEAK ISSUE HAS BEEN SETTLED BY DAIMLER-BENZ... 2014.12.23
In my case, my 07 E63 has a crack in the tank itself, and MB authorized them to replace the tank, pump, filter, senders, etc as one entire assembly. Not sure if they are doing this with all, but according to my service advisor, the rep said they were replacing the entire assembly since leaks are likely with the other parts, and at 98k miles, would rather replace the entire thing than have it come back and back.
As an FYI, the parts alone are well over $2,000 and labor involves having to drop everything.. lots and lots of work.
My dealership is Holloway MB in Manchester, NH and they are familiar with it now, so anyone in New England with issues should check them out... great dealership in general too.
The tank assembly comes in tomorrow, and it should be done end of day Friday. Apparently its a big job to change them out on these cars, since everything has to come down first. I got a GLK350 for a loaner, which I am not a big fan of, but not a bad car.

They said they didn't know anything about it, but would check it out to see what it entails. I told them to talk to their rep, who should know about it, and if they had any issues to let me know and I'll call MB USA and have them authorize the repairs.
Soon as they called their rep later that day, they were familiar with it and gave the ok to fix it, and told them to order the entire tank assembly with all pump, filter, and sender components. However, the rep did say that he would have to manually get the VIN into the VMI so that the dealer will get paid as warranty work, so although its covered, as of right now it looks like the rep has to manually still approve it and get it through, otherwise the dealer can't put it in as normal warranty work and will not get paid for the parts or labor.

Further than that, she said I could go in with the letter I linked to previously on this thread, and try that, though if in no hurry, I should basically wait for the warranty extension letter.

WTF....I called MBUSA and the guy was helpful but he was reading the same thing about AMG's not being included at this time. He told me I have two options,
1. get it diagnosed and the cost, send the info to MBUSA and a case manger will make a call.
2. pay and get reimbursed when/if extension goes to AMG's
so my question is how did ppl already get this approved being AMG's are not included at this time. its dumb one would think the AMG's would be first ?
