No worries, I get pretty pissed by it as well and it very quickly differentiates those dealers that you can trust from those you can't. They're messing with the wrong damn guy...I'm mechanically savvy and I manage a sales force!

The local dealer has has been extremely amenable once I provided the documentation posted. Otherwise, when I originally tried to approach it verbally they weren't really willing to explore the report.

Mine is officially repaired after a screw up the first time (drove home filled the tank and smelled fuel) apparently one of the Rings didn't seat properly. But yeh my e55 now has new pumps/senders at no charge.

I made sure they filled the tank before I took the car back. Sure enough no odor present. Very happy. I do plan to fill the tank many of times, and if odor reoccurs, it's back to the dealer :-). I don't mind test driving the new mbs either haha. The 15 c class is a joke. Way to small. The new E seems to be eh. Would need to drive an e63 to give it the real test. There is no doubt that our older w211 are just solid all around cars and don't feel near as cheap as the new models

As Mr. McCabe stated, the class action lawsuit which concerns this issue has not been settled, and this warranty extension as I understand it, was volunteered by Mercedes. Whether it was prompted by the result of an NHTSA investigation or an early response to the suit, I am not sure, but the suit is on-going.

Got great news ! IM covered ! the warranty is under my VIN in the VMI and MBUSA is slowing updating the system with the vehicles it applys to. every thing will be updated by monday according to them. I would like to thank Gregmb for always keeping us updated and informed about this issue.

Yup seriously, had mine changed a few times, and when I would fill it up, they would eventually go bad, one less than a year. Now I have never filled more than 3/4 if that and lasting over a year

Did you have gas smell? Or have the sender pump leaking? I don't think they will change your pumps and senders if they are not leaking. They might change your charcoal canister or evap

Would aftermarket engine mods void a warranty? Extra power means more demand on the fueling system (issue for a warranty company). Can MBUSA deny those who are modified?

my point was that if one dealership denies the claim and you go another one the VIN will be flagged in the MB system . I was responding to Berti's post
