!!! ATTENTION !!!! - FUEL LEAK ISSUE HAS BEEN SETTLED BY DAIMLER-BENZ... 2014.12.23
but . . . Is my 2005 CDI diesel included in this recall.
(Excuse me, extended warranty
)? Searched and searched all 9 pages, but I can't tell one way or 'nother.
Thanks for any help and regards,
Derrel H Green
182K miles and very strong (in many ways) besides smell.
After that i called MB corporate and lady there told me it is not true, amg is covered.
She called on the other line to my local dealer (who i've talked before) and explained them that.
Just drop off my car this evening at the dealer. Will see tomorrow what will actually happen...
Something to consider, I don't have a backup of my tune and if I ever needed to take it in, this would worry me.
Most every tuner will reinstall a tune for free if this happens though.
Try to stay calm everyone.......
It took us something like 4 YEARS to finally get NHTSA and MB-USA to acknowledge this fuel leak issue was real. The paperwork is being settled and rolled-out now, but clearly its not instantaneous.
Take a deep breath, fill your tanks to the 3/4 mark for another month (or two) and let MB-USA get their act together on this.... it sounds like they are going to be running a lot of VIN#'s to figure out who to contact, and I'm sure they are going to be using the NHTSA ODI database (which also has our VIN#s) to identify where to send out letters and instructions.
Trying to jam our cars into the repair process now seems to just be causing chaos and confusion at most dealerships. Let these guys get their legs underneath them first and the whole process should go a lot smoother with a LOT less stress for everyone.
Just my humble $.02

they called me back this morning and said that it will get covered...waiting for parts now. Here is mb corporate phone no. if anyone needs 1800 222 0100

According to the bulletin, if I had an E320/500 I am supposed to get a tank complete with fuel pump and filter pre-assembled...at least that's how I read it..clear as mud eh? However, since the bulletin does not apply to AMG's, the part number for the assembled tank is wrong, as well as the other required hardware. MBUSA parts does not have a part number for the AMG assembled tank as of today, only the empty tank. I would expect an updated bulletin to be issued with the correct part numbers or procedure for AMG's soon.
So...everyone calm down and wait a few more days until MBUSA updates their information.
