BROKEN SUPERCHARGER PULLEY DESTROYED my car!!!!
I was driving accelerating and the car lost power, I let off then on the throttle again confused for a second then though maybe my belt broke or fell off. I pull in to the nearest parking lot and start hearing funny noised coming from under the hood.
Park, open the hood and see coolant everywhere. At this point I am confused on what the heck happened and how even if a radiator hose broke how it made me lose a bunch of power instantly. After looking for a few seconds I notice the engine cover sliced up.

Took that off and a rubber hose going to the supercharger had a big gash in it, then noticed down below it my thermostat housing had a big gash through the aluminum too!

At this time I see the pulley had 2 of those flat "springs" broke loose on one end and flapping around and pretty much weed wacked through everything in their path. I looked further and then found it did more damage, below the rubber hose is a metal hose like the one seen to the right of it that is going to the oil filter housing. The lower one had the bolt sheared off that holds the oil hose to the housing.
Another pic of the broken pieces of pulley

So at this point, I need to replace the pulley, get a new thermostat housing, a new oil filter housing, a new vacuum hose and guess I will just leave the engine cover off in the front.
I start to take stuff apart and come to find out I can't get any of it off without taking the damn supercharger off because it is blocking access to a few bolts. Just awesome, so I got to work and now the car is torn apart until I get replacement parts.

I think this kind of supercharger pulley failure should be known as the "Weed Wacker"

Was your crank pinned with the crank extension? What size pulley? I'm about to change out to stock supercharger pulley with 180 crank pulley

Let me know what parts you need and I can look and see if I have it. Free of course. I'm not trying to take advantage of forum members like some.
They all come from the same place.

I had two SC pulleys let go on me. No major damage as I caught it before they popped off. First one had bad bearings and the second was grinding something creating a dust around the shims/magnet.
I threw the stock one back on and never had another issue during the time I owned it.

And to all the other people out there, I believe I am correct in saying this that a forum member/vendor had a company local to them in Texas called ASP make these pullies and then sold them themselves and had other bigger name reputable businesses like Eurocharged sell them. I am not pointing fingers, just putting it back to stock pullies and moving along. I care more about about reliability than speed in this car since it is my daily driver and like I mentioned earlier, I have a CTS-V that had 850whp and now will be getting over 1000 when I get it back in a few weeks. So that is my play toy, and the E55 is still plenty fast with the headers, 78mm throttle body, cooling mods and stock pullies. Just need to get my tune adjusted.
Oh and the pulley broke with me accelerating and I would say I was at about 60-70mph. I had pulled out of my neighborhood on to a main road and took off for a quick little blast.
My SC pulley snapped and blew through the top just like yours, almost same looking picture. The only damage to the engine was the breather hose and idler pulley.
Can't believe 3 people all had pulleys snap so close, everyone check your pulleys damn.
I ended up ordering a full new set of idler pulleys, sc pulley, and belt wrap kit and now its all kosher...
Good luck man, sorry to hear.
I put 100k miles on the Code 3 pulley in my C32 without any problems at all. I shipped it to a forum member in Scotland when I sold the car and now he's putting miles on it without fault.

The car broke, that is why it was apart.
