It isn't cheap to make a non-AMG wagon to look like one.

Always wondered why some folks do this vs. just get the real thing. It isn't _that_ hard to find one. Part of the seller description is "Very interesting prior ownership." Um, ok...

I don't have a problem with getting the body & exhaust parts to make it look like one. I have a small issue with putting the badges on as you're trying to con people into believing you have something you do not.

My main gripe with his ad is that he doesn't mention the actual model of the car until the middle of the description paragraph. This person even avoided putting the correct model of the car in the item specifics. I would report the ad to eBay as misleading and attempting to be fraudulent.

I see they forgot to put some truth into the ad: "Buy this if you want to be a fake *** poser."

...Tiny front calipers, non-AMG seats, non-AMG sill plates, V8 and Kompressor letters are incorrectly placed (and not spaced properly), the list would go on. Absolutely asinine.
I was just reading the ad, and the seller insinuates several times that this is an AMG car. Wow. 302 is most of 469? I need his calculator when I do my taxes!

an e500 wagon is indeed rare

What a terrible job with the V8 KOMPRESSOR badging

Doesn't the badging come pre arranged on a piece of adhesive backing... Hard to screw that up but he managed to screw it up

I had to replace mine since it was debadged by the previous owner. They come perfectly spaced like a normal sticker. I stuck several layers of painters tape over the top of them and peeled the backing off so they were stuck from the chrome side. Had a google image of the stock location up and then lined it up and pressed. This n00b probably took each one off one by one from the looks of it.

I think what he did was buy the $4.99 China special emblems off eBay and stick them on.

You guys need a life. Mercedes is putting AMG badges on new ML350s so that whole posing thing is BS. I don't get why people get so offended. It's not like the car is worth much anyway. This isn't a brand new E63 S 4matic people, it's a 10+ year old car that no one really cares about.

This from someone who obviously hates Mercedes-Benz and thinks that they're made by F****n *****. Let's have a look at some of your better trolling...

...I'll try to pull it off but I'll try to find a person with a STAR tool anyway.

This is going to be a ***** but I expected nothing less from a bunch of ****ing *****. I hope Mercedes goes bankrupt.

I'm of German descent, 100%... and am very proud of my nationality. Does that make me a f****n ****?

You, sir, are an embarrassment to our chosen brand, our hobby and probably anyone so misfortunate as to be in your company.

So you deny the possibility that Mercedes might design something to fail purposefully? I'm not talking about normal wear and tear, I'm talking about putting things in in a way that makes them very difficult in removal without breaking the part and having to replace it. I've had experience with Japanese cars and European cars. Japanese cars are generally boring but they are no doubt more reliable and more durable. Mercedes used to over engineer their cars. That's why we see old Mercs still running fine but the profit-over-everything culture made it into Mercedes and so we see purposefully complex designs for simple things.

How does thing have anything to do with this thread though? I'm simply saying that the car is quite old now and AMG isn't some military honor for bravery. It's just a badge. Anybody who knows AMGs is gonna know instantly that it isn't because of the stuff the person didn't change. Anyone who doesn't know AMGs is not gonna care anyway so I'm just surprised people get so upset. I also said Mercedes does it from the factory too and so does BMWs M division. There's nothing wrong with that.

I love Mercedes, I love the history, I love the designs, I especially love the interiors but that's not gonna stop me from pointing out massive flaws which Hyundai wouldn't even make.

Again, this is irrelevant to the topic so I'll just assume you're trolling.

By the way being German doesn't entitle you to credit for every Mercedes built. Mercedes is a private company and has nothing to do with you. That's like saying a bum in the US is part of the reason for NASA's success in space.

Although I do agree with HeissRod you make a valid argument. It's funny because I was having this exact same discussion while in the car with my wife the other day. I pointed out a non-AMG Mercedes-Benz wearing AMG badges while we were driving. Since she doesn't know/care about cars, she responded the exact same way. She said that she can't tell the difference between them and she really wouldn't even know what AMG really meant if it wasn't for me.

I think the person putting on the false badging is internally conflicted and will always be so. You cannot afford the amg and it's something that you would want if you could afford it. Additionally if you falsely represent this one part of your life, ie fake badging on a car, there is more than likely other things you are falsely representing in your life and that makes you a bit more of a loser to me. Additionally placing badges that are false suggests to me that this person places a great deal of value in what others think if her or him, and that's more inferiority complexity and something I don't battle with in my own life.

I "have a life" and I'm proud to not misrepresent it in any way shape or form because it's a respectable life and an honest one. There are things I cannot afford and I do not falsely represent that I can or do own them. It's a pretty simple line of logic. I'm content to live within my means and also content not to give to much of a sh** what others think of me or my material possessions
