some new goodies for my first project arrived today!

Finally got all the necessary tools and parts to work on the beast. Doing spark plugs, wires, and valve cover seals. I believe I will still need some rtv for the seals. I am a bit disappointed at how the valve cover gaskets were packed. Hopefully it won't cause any problems. Is there anything else I need to tackle this project?

This wrench feels great excellent craftsmanship.

A 17mm open end wrench to pop the leads off the spark plugs

On the rocker covers you will need RTV silicone for the breather top and the oil filler top (photo attached so you know what I mean)

None needed on the main seals

It's not recommended in the manual, I didn't need to use any on mine and they are fine, no leaks

Just make sure you clean out the valley for the gasket really good on the covers

Just one last thing

After you fit everything back up and take it for a drive, after it cools back down check the torque settings again

You don't HAVE to do this but is something I do to triple check everything is good

Makes sense. I will wait 24 hours for the RTV to cure then take her for a spin!

You need an in-lbs torque wrench for the valve cover bolts. The spec is 72 in-lbs.

I'm using red rtv for temperature up to 650F. Has anyone had experience using the higher temperature black rtv or will the red work?

In-lbs is nothing; 6 ft-lbs. Just gently snug by hand and be done.
