Driving home last night.. I get a message on the dash saying, "Low Beam - Right"
I had put in 6000K bulbs a few months back.. but ordered two pairs in case one burnt out. So I figured no big deal, get home and swap out the bulb...
Pull in the driveway, pop the hood and it smells like burnt electronics near the passenger side headlight. Igniter was real hot to the touch, so I let it sit for a few mins.
Unplugged the igniter to find it was pretty much melted where the bulb plugs in. The actual bulb itself has melted at the connection point as well....
Any idea as to why this would happen?
I think these bulbs are 55W..

This happened to me also. Aside from the burning smell of electronics I also noticed smoke escaping from beneath the hood while I was driving. Upon inspection half the ignitor had melted/burnt away! I replaced the ignitor and all bulbs and havent experienced any issues since.

What bulbs are you running?
Where did you source them?
So I'm guessing the reason for this is the 55w bulbs??
