Has anyone gotten their phone problems fixed?

Despite four visits to the dealer, my V60 with Voice Control is still giving me problems.

Basically, the party on the other end of the call can hear themselves feeding back. The dealer is convinced that there is a problem, as they have been able to duplicate it, but they have been unable to resolve it.

I have this problem even when the volume is set very low, as I fully understand that keeping the volume too high will cause this problem.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, has your dealer been able to resolve it?

My car has spent about 15 days in the shop for this problem, and it is going back in next week, even though the dealer has indicated that they don't know what to do next.

Thanks.

No echo problem with my V60, however, I notice that when I crank up the volume, I do hear some ticking in the background.

Abnormal as I never had it in my previous R230 or W210.

The V60 in my previous Benz worked perfectly. With this one, numerous times my wife says I am breaking up during the call. Plus, my mute button doesn't work. My first service I plan to have them check into it.

I have the same echoing problem. The dealer replaced the phone module. I will post the part number. After the new part was installed, I still had a few complaints about the echoing, so the problem has not been resolved. My dealer is not as concerned as he should be, but it is getting tiring driving around in a loaner C class while they try to figure out what is wrong with the phone. I have almost giving up and the issue. But for 1500, it really gets me boiling.

I doubt it's something that they will end up fixing! The problem seems to me tobe similar to one I currently have with my V60 phone kit in my 2002 C320. Whenever I converse with someone who has a lot of backround noise they have a diifcult time hearing me because their backround noise is activating my speaker. As you know, this is a half duplex system not full duplex..Only one component of the hands free system can work at a time. As long as my speaker is picking up their backround noise, my Mic won't activate. It's very fustrating but it only occurs when I am taliking with someone on the other end that has some noise in the backround going on.

Actually, the service adviser indicated to me that 2004 models do have a full duplex system, not the half duplex system that was installed in 2002 and 2003 models using the V60.

Either way, however, I'm not satisfied with the current state of affairs, and given that the phone with VCS costs about $2K, I'm getting more and more pissed. I get much better call quality by using the phone with a headset attached, and while that may be a viable short term solution until the problem is properly fixed, I find a headset to be an unacceptable compromise in a vehicle of this caliber.

I'm scheduled to bring it back to the dealer again this week, but I am quickly losing confidence in their ability to resolve the issue, and I am beginning to think that I may have to begin playing hardball soon.

Anyway, I did also speak with a tech at Motorola, who dumped the issue back into Mercedes' lap. I then spoke briefly with a person at MB tech suppport at their US headquarters in New Jersey, and am waiting for him to call me back, but I'm not holding my breath.

Very Interesting... Say Vic.. Can you give me some advice?
I am thinking about buying a used 2003 E55 with alomst all the bells & whistles on it available. Only 6000 miles w/ Panoram roof, solar panel, rear & side window blinds, Parktronic, Key Go & integrated V60 phone w/ handset. Of course it has Xenons too along with electr trunk closer in other words , No Nav (wasn't available yet), No Distronic & No tire pressure monitor. Color is Pewter over charcoal. Car is in San Francisco Area. How much is a good deal for this car. The ******* won't go below 82 grand. I think that the car should be 3-4 grand cheaper considering it's already a year & a half old in terms of model years (only 8 months old in real terms though) What do you think?

I regret that I'm probably not qualified to say. My guess is that this vehicle probably carried an MSRP of about $86K. If so, I think that $82K sounds a bit high, particularly given that it is an '03 model. That said, the fact that ordering a new one may entail a delay of several months, it comes down to supply and demand. My guess is that the dealer may be willing to take $80K, but I'd be surprised to hear that they took less than that.

BTW, I'd also suggest posting your question as a new thread as there are undoubtedly others on ths board who are more qualified to offer an opinion.

Best of luck...

Actually, I did post this as a different thread & got back mixed feedback! The sticker on the car was $89,000 believe it or not. (The car was loaded). He is willing to do the deal right now @ $82000 but I would rather pay 78 grand considering what it's gonna cost me to swap out the stereo head unit in favor of a new Navigation equipped unit
What to do, what to do?

Thanks

Go for the 2004! Why not wait a few months, no point paying extra for options you don't care for!

actually when you think about it, this cart has all of the options I want! I personally don't believe in buying an E55 unless it has all of the bells & whistles. For 80 grand plus, the car should come loaded! That said, I know that an 04' would end up costing me 90 grand by the time I oredered it with all the same stuff this one has on it.
How much would you pay for an 03' w/ 6000 miles on it that stickered for 89 grand 8 months ago?

When you put it that way, $82 doesn't sound bad. I'd still try to talk them down a bit, though.

I decided... I won't pay more than 78 thou. Between the expense of flying to San Fran to drive the car down and the cash it will cost me to get out of the lease on my 2002 C320 19 months early, I just don't want to get slammed too bad.
