Crank pulley came off after having crank seal replaced.

Does anyone know of any shops beside the stealership that can fix. I'm between Raleigh and Richmond.

Is the pulley off the crank shaft completely or loose and wobbling? Mine friction welded itself to the crankshaft and was a disaster. Don't start/run it. No shop recommendations from my end other than best of luck

It came completely off. It's nothing to hold it in place.

Who did the work and how many miles were on it since the seal was replaced?

Post a pic of what your crank snout looks like. You have a couple of options.

This place is a joke.
Take it back to where the work was done. If the bolt wasn't tightened with at least a 5 foot long ratchet (1" drive) it wasn't tight enough. No, I'm not kidding.

And ask if they reused the crank pulley bolt. It can NOT be reused. It's a torque-to-yield bolt a.k.a stretch bolt.

I drove the car about 300 hundred miles before it came off

Take it back whoever did the work. They are at fault for this failure. What does the pulley, and bolt look like? I have a crank with a good snout if needed.

Jesus these people that feel or think "Tight is good enough".

I am sure there is a torque setting for this bolt. And I am sure it is big. I don't have the WIS open, but it has to be in there. These are Germans for Christ's sake. There WILL be a spec - somewhere! Probably 150-250lbft. Possibly that in Newton Meters.

Craig will chime in again. He has first hand experience on this

To me the crank looks ok. Will need a couple pins to hold the pulley.
