Help with Evosport Kompressor Cooling Upgrade

Hi,

I posted in the wrong forum, so hopefully someone here can help me.

I'm trying to understand the Evosport Kompressor upgrade kit that Evosport supplied for my "new" vehicle.

I bought an E55 and I'm unfamiliar with these kinds of upgrades on AMGs. I have attached photos of the installation that was done (previously posted by someone on this site). My questions are:

1) Is this a stand-alone system or does it replace something? Does someone have a wiring and schematic/diagram?
2) I need to replace the reservoir part of this system, as it is currently leaking oil (I just realize that this is bad, which means someone took this for a power steering reservoir)? Can I flush the system somehow?
3) When engine is on, It doesn't look like the small amount of oil/fluid in the reservoir is being circulated. Does this mean a bad pump? or does the pump not kick on until a certain temperature?
4) If the pump is bad, what pump is the replacement?
5) Before I pull my front apart, can someone tell me how this system works, and how the different lines are integrated in this system?

This car has several performance upgrades, and I really think I need the additional cooling power to avoid frying anything.

Any answers are highly appreciated.

Bump. Can anyone help with Any of my questions, or can someone direct me to a source? What I'll end up doing is likely taking the front bumper off to get an idea of how this is put together. I'm hoping to salvage the intercooler, but it would be great if I could fix some of the other components to this system instead of replacing with new.

OK. Still hoping someone can help. I'm trying to still figure out how this system works.

I looks to be split cooling system.

I assume I can flush the system without worrying about flushing engine cooling system too?
I bench tested the existing pump and nothing. I bought a new pump and it works. Before putting it in, I want to make sure there is nothing else wrong with the system. The plug that goes into the pump does NOT show 12V with ignition on? It comes from a relay, which I'm not sure does what? Red positive wire is directly from alternator.

I would assume that this pump is running with ignition on, but not sure if the relay is triggered by temp or something else. Not a wizard with the electrics. Can someone help me test this.

Starting at power source, I assume I should see 12v from red wire and ground (frame)?

I really would like to hear from other people that have this Evosport setup or another split cooling system.

The relay is most likely triggered by the factory pump wiring, so WOT and it should stay on until you turn the key off. Bosch 010 pump is a good one. do a search and you will find the chart. There are a few better ones. You need to get ALL the oil out with out running detergent through your pump. That heat exchanger looks smaller than stock.

1) Evosport H/E is added as an addition to the original H/E in series.
2) The reservoir used in this system is OEM BMW reservoir. Yes it is power steering reservoir but this system uses engine coolant/water/antifreeze
3) The pump is wired just as the OEM one and triggered by the relay in the trunk. It will only come on once the tempertature goes above 95-100.
4) Bosch 010 is the recommended replacement pump
5) You can add/replace water lines/hoses and or do your custom connectors.

Great. Thanks for the help. I truly appreciate it.

1) Any good ideas of how to flush the system? I was inclined to simply just use a bucket of distilled water, hook up the new pump (bench test style) and draw that water into the system and having the outlet port on the heat exchanger flush out old coolant and oil?

2) Will I need to bleed the system when putting it back together?

3) Should I make sure the reservoir is full or half full when cold? And can I fill the system from that reservoir?

1) Yes that should work fine.
2) Yes you will need to bleed the system. Look around the forum and you will find the proper procedure.
3)Yes you need to make sure that the reservoir is almost full and yes this reservoir sole purpose is "filling point".

Great help guys. Thanks.

I figured out how to bleed the system and will pick up some clear tubing today. I already bought a replacement EWP-80 pump, as I got a pretty good deal on it, but it should work like all other split cooling systems anyway.

Hopefully I can flush the system well and get this back up and running again.
