W211 E55 My Trans is on the fritz

I have an '05 E55 with 112k and my trans is slipping pretty consistently now. Whenever it's placed under any type of load, it will just give and slip and rev up, if you baby it, it will **** the gears somewhat normally. I do plan on keeping the car for a while and just wanted to get some feedback on what people's experiences have been with this and what's the best way to go about repairing the car. It kills me to drive it like this.

Change fluid and change filter don't flush though. Order a sample kit from Blackstone labs and send a sample of used trans fluid for a glycol test. Costs $30 05 shouldn't have glycol contamination but to be safe I would test it.

Do you have any contact info for Blackstone? I googled it and came up with a bodybuilding supplement company.

Nevermind. I found it.

First check fluid , with these trans a little ver or a little under and it will shift weird. If all good lower the pan and check the fluid for chunks or pieces especially in the filter. If you have star you can look at the codes that are in there, most likely codes for slipping 2nd gear etc.

IMO its time for a rebuild or a good used trans

Good luck bro

Sounds like needing new friction discs. I just had mine completely rebuilt.

+1 on rebuild or good used trans.

My trans was also slipping but most likely worst then yours. Opened up the trans and there were metal shavings everywhere.
So I went the rebuild route. As hulk stated, check the fuild then lower the pan If need be. Good luck

Good stuff.
1 question I noticed recently started happen when driving in M-mode if really punshing it the car suddenly changes to S-mode by itselfe really odd specially when I really give it the kick no idea why, mostly happens when reaching high milages. Annoying thinking ur in Manual sitting there pounding the gear shift but nothing happens..

Am I only supposed to use M when standing still? Some write My-temporarily mode and M-permantly mode is that true?

So did mine before.
Did the sneaky ecu reset I think was after that problem is worked fine before and car had some level problems after I picked it from AMG center for some diagnositic car had sunk on rear no leaks and everything else OK had the rear replaced with arnotts still stuck until I told amg to do the damn level calibration it came back up
So don't know if is from reset system or ecu reset or what u guys describe because been winter and didn't had changed to test it since I had thek replace the rear airmarics.
don't drive it winter (Sweden snow and crappie roads salt huuh)

Anyway will diffently check up on everything weekend and get back to the offers made thanks guys.

Ecu reset do you drive in new learning in C, S or M mode?

Thanks guys

might look into the tranny oil pump.. mine gave signs of slipping and not shifting into gear and heard a pop on the road and all she wrote. Could start but not go anywhere at all. One of the gears of the pump cracked.

Thanks guys.
The weird thing there are absolutely no other signs it is Only the manual changed to S mode when floored..
Else no slipping drives perfectly but I feel u had problems with my CLK 320 suddenly stuck in 2 gear had same done to it is why I really don't like fiddling with ecu reset and all not really worth it will learn driving style no matter what but we'll some think is usefully I never really cared did it and what a bummer lol..

Super thanks for all reply love u guys (I'M NOT A HOMO)
