Fuel filter location and service interval

Is fuel filter in tank on Right side (passenger side) just the same as other W211's for the E55? When looking at images it looks like a twin pump assembly versus my E320's single assembly? Can anyone shed some light on proper part Number, location and service interval if possible?

THANKS!!

Service interval is every 60,000 miles, I forget if there is a timespan. Unfortunately the fuel filter and the fuel pump are in one integrated unit. Thus meaning you have to replace the pump as well. Meaning the job escalates to several hundred dollars. The interval is mentioned in the E55 AMG specific download-able service manual available off MBUSA.com.

And don't forget to replace the relay hidden under the right-side panel of the trunk (no access panel). You'll find the air pump relay next to the fuel pump relay so if you aren't sure which is which, just replace them both. You can usually recognize the fuel pump relay because it melted....

Fuel pumps are on the fuel filler cap side. Fuel sender unit with integrated filter is on the driver's side in a left-hand drive US car. Replace them as a set. You'll need two of the O-ring seals also. Plan on $950 in parts. You'll need the proper adapter cables or one of the pumps will run backwards and you wont be able to connect to the pressure regulator on the sending unit. This is not a cheap maintenance item....

Here's a list of part numbers and costs from my car in June of 2015:
211-470-00-00 Fuel Sending Unit (dual pumps) $411
211-470-64-94 Fuel Pump Assembly (actually filter and regulator) $489
211-471-05-79 Fuel Sender Seal x 2 $34
211-440-05-07 Cable Harness adaptor for fuel sending unit $15
211-540-07-00 adapter cable to fuel pumps $15
002-542-19-28, relays 2 each, $17

A favorite ebay seller has pumps and filters for about 1050. I see the relays and the seals. But, no adapter plug. I sent him my vin and he said plug in no adapter needed for 2005. It that right?

I need to change mine it's been 3 years since last change and the pumps on the passenger side are starting to leak.

With the above part numbers, you must have the adapter cables. The numbers listed are (IIRC) the fourth iteration of parts MB installs in the car.

Go with ECS Tuning for the parts and go by the VIN.

Start reading on page 2 of this thread. Several of us went round and round about this issue back in summer of 2015.
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...cements-2.html

The latest iteration of fuel pumps has one wired with different connections than the previous version of fuel pumps. Thus the adapter cable.

OK will go with ECU then. But, Still don't get it.. I checked out thread. So, they changed it. Why? Whats the difference from 1st to 4 gen. It's confusing why are they still selling old versions and what benefits does the 4th gen give over a plug and play older version. Both being new.

If they are leaking why don't you get them covered under the recall for free?

Here's the latest out of the EPC for my car's VIN (2005 model year). Seems even more pieces are added. FWIW, one of the updates is a piece of foam that is placed on the underside of the metal lid over the fuel pumps and their harness; looks like it is intended to prevent the electrical harness from rubbing against and shorting out against the metal lid. I know that when I pulled my old pumps, the OEM electrical harness was blackened and insulation was cracking off the wires where they were laying against the metal lid; I had to refurbish the connector.

See attached. If you want to be sure, post your VIN and I'll look it up in EPC for you.

Did you ever happen to find out the reason why those other parts are included as ancillary with the 2114700000 pump? I searched for 2115459040 and 2115458940 (they are brackets, one appears to be in the right wheel housing and one is for the "bass box" ) and 2114405508 is the harness including relay. Any idea if this harness is an upgraded part or are they just recommending replacing it because it's more than likely soaked in fuel or burnt?

Not sure about the bracket for the brakes (WTH?) but the 2114405508 (harness including relay) I assume (I have not and did not order one) is to replace the melted relay and socket that far too often occurs with the E55's original single-relay design.

See here for where I recently upgraded my fuel pump relay and socket. Be sure to read the whole thread.

Yeah, not sure what's going on with the brackets. Thanks I'll have a read.
