WTB: Right rear strut

WTB: Right rear strut
Not sure exactly where the want to buy ads can be posted as I'm newer to this forum and Mercedes ownership, so mods please move this if there is a more appropriate place.
I have a bad clunk in the right rear of my car and have the strut removed. Although it appears to behave normally, it has dirt caked all over the strut body whereas the left side is completely clean.
Looking to get a cheap, known good replacement to confirm the strut is the culprit. If anyone has one they've removed or even replaced both rear struts and would be willing to sell me a good one for cheaper, let me know.
It doesn't appear there's any rebuilt units from Arnott or other. Maybe this isn't a common enough part?
Thanks,
Jeff

I'm selling 2 rear arnotts
https://mbworld.org/forums/suspensio...uspension.html
I also have 2 used stock ones
I would recommend the arnotts because it doesn't use the reservoirs anymore and it's one less thing that can break

Yes you really have to do both and arnott saves big money in labor(resevore delete) hulk has a good deal. Saves 3 bills

Thanks for the replies, guys.
As far as the arnotts go, what do you mean when you say it doesn't use the reservoirs?
I think the arnotts piece is only the air spring, is that correct? It seems like I actually need the strut itself, not the spring, as this is the part caked with mud and dirt. I'm new to this whole system, so it's a little over my head.

In the rear there's the airbag and a shock. Which one do you need to change. Is the car lowering itself in the rear by itself etc?
Arnotts airbag doesn't use the stock air reservoir like the stock airbags. It has it's own reservoir within the bag, much better design

Well, the strut itself on the one side is what's dirty and clunking. The rear will start to droop if the car sits for maybe 3 weeks, so it's extremely slow, but I don't see how the airbag could cause a clunk, so I'd like to try swapping the strut out for a known working one first before messing with the airbags.

The air spring also changes the way it functions when changing between comfort and sport suspension modes. Also, when you say Arnott incorporated the reservoir into their designed air spring are you sure about this? I've always thought/assumed that they just scrapped the reservoir idea all together as I don't see how it could be incorporated inside of the spring.

The way it was explained is that internally it holds and releases air instead of having an external res to hold the air.
The airbags don't really change much between comfort and sport
The shocks handle most of it

for what it's worth, i had a rear suspension clunk that i was convinced was the strut, turned out to be the bag. It died shortly after the clunk started. replaced the rear bags and the clunk disappeared. I was convinced it was the strut because of the same exact thing you have mentioned, it appeared to have leaked slightly and had dirt caked on body. If it's not leaking on to the ground where you park it, I doubt it's your shock. just my 2 cents.

plenty of options on ebay, otherwise you're looking at $500 a pop for new. It's not a cheap part, unlikely that anyone has a good strut just laying around in their garage.
