Hey guys! So this weekend I picked up an 06 E55 AMG. 70k miles, one owner car, fully loaded, completely stock. Car is absolutely awesome in every way! I'll try to attach some pictures but I actually think it is a Designo but I could be wrong. Went out today and did a few friendly runs with my buddy's Mustang 5.0 and an older M3. Car definitely heat soaks pretty bad after a few runs so I'm sure it needs a new IC pump. Other then that it has been great. Now I am in Ocean County, NJ. Im thinking about doing a pulley and tune/HE to it. Can anyone recommend me a cheap package for it? Also, how do you go about uploading the tunes to it? Would it make more sense for me to just go to a local indy shop? If thats the case can anyone recommend any good places in central jersey? I'm sure any good local shops will be useful regardless. Thanks in advance!
Here's the car... and my 730rwhp GT500 (weekend, go fast car )
DTK600. You should be more than happy with that if you have the GT for your go fast. The 55 won't be a slouch by any means. 600 to the crank and 650 trq is very realistic with the DTK600.
77 pulley
bkw
heat exchanger
ECU Tune
tcu tune - is a must !
DTK package will get you th to most bang for your buck. You have tons of options but the stuff he provides you can't beat for the price.
Join the amg enthusiasts page for our motor on Facebook. Tons of good info on there as well
Your '06 looks just like my '06, but I'm keeping mine stock. Nice car! Your wheels look fantastic compared to mine, but mine have 90k more miles on them.
Another vote for headers. The stock manifolds are really bad. ANY header and a tune will out perform an 83 pulley and tune. It wil be within 10-15 rwhp of a 77 and tune.
The BWK definatly helps if your belt is slipping. Unfortunately it's difficult to know if it really is slipping without a dyno graph. So many think it's worthless.
Most do it to prevent losing the power as insurance. It's kind of like a cooling mod. It technically does not add hp but the end result is HP.
Thanks for all the responses guys. Just out of curiosity has anyone used or heard about these headers ( http://www.projectb5.com/product/pb5...ngtube-headers )? Haven't seen any reviews on them, seems unusually cheap for longtubes on these cars.

Deffinetly LT's, with an x-pipe. That motor will breath easier, plus lower the temps.
I'm sure you didn't skimp on the parts for the GT, so I'd suggest the same on the MB.
I had very good results with ARH headers, and while your doing the headers do yourself a favor and replace the motor mounts, then do a tune, and as you continue doing mods, follow up with updating your tune.
GL - The E55's are a lot of fun

Just got the ProjectB5 long tube headers on my car, it is a bolt on kit. Exept to massage and the dent the heat shields on motor mount for some more space, and take of first floor heat cover to find the gasoline tubes and move them a bit. I like the sound and the power, even I haven't remapped at this point. Just to buy this set, I actually think people are a little stupid if they don`t...
OP, your wheel pics have shamed me into getting my wheels redone. Road rash removed, clear coat removed, then powder coated and re-coated as close to stock as possible.

Where did you have this done? Are you happy with results? How much did you shell out for it?
This is one area where I'm not happy with the one I bought. Interested in doing this. I will want 2 sets eventually, one with summer tires and one with all season, but hoping to find a good set of OEM AMG wheels for this. I don't want aftermarket.

It's being done at Rimguard next week. I'll post pics. $600 for all four wheels, remounted and balanced after the refurb. They will also paint the brake calipers red (for $225). I'll post pics.

Saweet. Yeah keep us posted. I definitely want to see how it turns out. Sorry OP, small hijacking of thread going on. Maybe we should start a fresh thread on your wheel project.
Cheers
