Can the I/C Pump shutoff point be reprogrammed?

I got my Killer Chiller installed last week and had a good day at the track on Saturday. My current setup is a KC with NO heat exchanger and NO tank, running a fixed 77mm pulley. (Yes, I know; a tank is on the way; long story there...)

I kept a close eye on IATs and I noticed that the I/C pump would shut off whenever the IATs got down to about 70-deg. Then the IATs would creep back up again, until I jabbed the throttle to the floor (while in Park in the staging lanes), which would cause them to start dropping again until they hit 70-deg, then the whole process would repeat.

Does anyone know for sure if the I/C pump will always shut off at 70-deg IATs? Is there any way to use STAR to re-program the pump shutoff point so it goes down lower than 70?

If your pump is hot wired then it's not shutting off

You need a tank and then it will cool down more also remember that the motor gets heat soaked so while pressing the gas a little might go down because it's getting fresh air in the intake

IAT Graph

Since a picture's worth a thousand words, here's a hand-drawn graph showing what I was seeing on Saturday while sitting in the staging lanes:

It shows that the pump is clearly shutting off when the IATs reach ~70-deg, under a *no load* condition. While driving around the IATs get lower than 70-deg. I think the computer shuts off the pump if the SC is disengaged and the IATs fall to 70.

I am wondering if that number can be lowered via STAR. Hotwiring the pump is another alternative, I realize, but if I could lower that temp to, say, 50-deg via STAR, that would be my first choice.

Joe,
Set it up to run continuously. Attached is a description in a post of the links on the set-up and a few links.

"Yes, it can be set up to run anytime your key is on, etc.

Keep in mind that this pump pulls about 8 amps (8.4 at start up and 7.2 to 7.35 thereafter in my testing) which is more than twice that of the 010. SO, you will want to run heavier wires and fuse it at 10 amps or more (I use a 10 amp fuse; mercedes uses a 15 amp fuse in newer cars that run this pump) .

hope that helps,
Chris"

Awesome setup more volume would be good I am sure but man oh man, I bet IATs are nice and cool!

One quick fix to try is see if you can reach your foot around and click the kick down button with your left foot... maybe that will let it run for a set period of time once you hit 70 IATs

At idle I can reach my left foot around the back of the gas pedal and click the kickdown button and the pump activates, that keeps me from revving the motor up

Other than that hot wire that sucker and enjoy

It cannot be altered via DAS, but if you download Vediamo and figure out how to use it you can change the coding

im pretty surein my 03 the pump starts when sc is engaged for first time and stays on until engine is shut off. Has someone got any info how it really works and is there some year differences? I had no clue it shuts off by itself after fisrt time commanded on?!

And I would have said the same thing about mine before last week. Without the KC it would never get down to 70 degrees, and so would never shut off. Again, I'm only talking about while at idle (in the staging lanes). When driving around it gets down to a few degrees below ambient (52-deg for me last night driving home from work)

Hi Joe Keep us in the loop with your progress at the track with the killer chiller and your IATs. Would be interesting to compare to ice tank results.
