Can my steering wheel go any higher?
#2
Looks about 1.5"ish from max height... I will take a picture what it looks like when it is maxed out on my car in a bit

Yes, the stalk should go all the way to the top. Looks like you have a problem.
Can't tell you what the price of repair would be, as I have never experienced this type of problem.

Damn it.....
I wonder if this has anything to do with battery being swapped out of the car and it just wasn't calibrated properly afterwards... in other words if it's only a software issue.
kinda pissed my steering wheel won't go up all the way, maybe it doesn't even go back and forth all the way either.

You have to reset the windows after a battery disconnect, but I've never heard of a steering wheel having to be reset.

The thing is, the motor doesn't keep going, it just stops there...
You know how if you disconnect the battery you have to do X and X and go all the way X and all the way Y to recalibrate? I am wondering if this could potentially be the same because it just doesn't seem like anything is broken... I can move it up and down, in and out but it stops right there and not go further.

Try doing the window reset steps...go all the way down and hold for a few moments, then try going up and holding for a few moments?

Everything is worth a shot at this point, because the alternative is a new stalk, and I know that isn't cheap. I would also reach out to a indy shop and get their opinion and pricing

Yea, mine busted when my Alternator died 2 hours from home... So I got a 2 for 1 deal on repairs due
https://mbworld.org/forums/audio-ele...e-up-down.html
Here is what is will take if your dog-bone plastic roller breaks
You can also see what it looks like all the way up (one or two horizontal bars)
"I hear the motor whirring away but it will not move up and down"
I am 6'3' so I guess it doesnt really bother me at all, I usually have it an inch or so lower
I would guess there is an obstruction... This doesnt look to be for the faint of heart to inspect motor movement/repair functionality
There has to be a "reset calibration" for this guy
Def worth a call to dealer for advice. I would just ask is there a way to calibrate the sucker

That's the thing though it just doesn't make any noise, it just stops. It's almost as if it's reaching a programmed limit as opposed to a mechanical defect...
I'm 6' 3" and luckily it doesn't bother me too but I've had bad luck with Mercedes so far, all 3 I've owned have had steering wheel issues....
I'll have to ask the dealer too. The position doesn't bother me but I do like to get the wheel up and have my car feel like a rally car

Well, I have found you a E55 steering column on eBay, if you decide that you need to go that route. http://www.ebay.com/itm/05-06-Merced...VX6xjd&vxp=mtr

I'm waiting on my airmatic compressor to arrive so I can install it then I will call up the dealer and set an appointment for my wheel locking nut, airmatic calibration (if there are no laeks), and for them to peep this issue and give me their opinion.
As always I'm expecting 0 insight and that it will all need to be replaced and the engine rebuilt and a price quote for $19,000

So your missing the key to your wheel locks? Well, I think that the dealership can help you out with that.

I had to buy 3 lug nuts. Don't buy a vehicle from a shady dealer who got it from an auction like i did.

Well, It's a good thing that you never had a front left tire failure, because wouldn't be able to remove it.
