Whining after oil change, fix? and oil level not reading right

So today i did an oil change on my 04 55, used mobil 1 0 40 oil and a stp filter.

right after the oil change, it started to whine, dosent go away when warm up, so it s different from the start up whine.

i searched a lot on the forum, seems like people are having this issue, some say its the oil, some say its the filter not being oem.

but i have not yet find a solution to this, any input?

also, i put 9 quats of oil in it but the computer only shows (three clicks on reset buttom) 7.4 quats. i drained the oil out from both the front and the rear sump.

is that normal? does the computer has to be reset?

thank you

It should go away after a few minutes when it warms.

Not sure why but I always use the stock OEM filter for these reasons..

Yep this is how it starts and may stay like this forever. I have been down this road and have tried MANY types of oils and filters but the whine is always there and very noticeable when cold. Although better these days but still there !!

Damn....
i mean it's been years since someone first mention this issue, and still no cause or fix?
i mean... it gotta be something bc it wasn't there before the oil change..

I wouldn't worry about it. One day it started and it never went away tbh, but as soon as the car warms up the tiniest bit you're good

If that oil in the above link has made this noise go away on multiple motors (55k's) then that stuff is the oil to buy and exactly what I'm using next.

I'd wait for the other guy in this thread to verify that it actually did something, otherwise I'm calling BS. I'm very skeptical about 'magic oil'.

Me? Oil just came in today but I don't have the energy to change it tonight. I will do it at work tomorrow and let you know. Again highly unlikely it will do anything because I have tried Royal Purple,Mobil 1 and Liqui Moly so will see. I did get it much quieter with a stainless filter but it's still pretty loud when cold.
I even have a new pump with a new chain and tensioner to throw in this winter but have been told it will not make a difference.

Well isn't this a kick in the *** after 3 1/2 years of driving! Changed the oil at my shop today and as soon as the filter housing was primed the other tech's I work with just starred at me. They heard me drive in but couldn't hear me leaving. The noise had dropped at least 60% cold but is still there when hot, but totally doable compared to where it was before.
On a side note, I had gotten it down {whine} when I switched to a stainless oil filter but then used different brand oils for my 1/2 mile events so noise was back again. But now.....big difference and we do not know why. We have some very smart tech's at my shop and we pulled apart new E55 oil pump to see what could be going on .....had lots of theory but nothing concrete.
So it looks like this Bizol oil is a keeper for now and it is the correct spec so that's great. I did cost me $90.00 and my old Mobil 1 was only 200 miles old!! Bought my oil at Eeuroparts

Hmm. Well I guess I'll try it too at my next oil change. Worth a shot to see if it helps the pump whine.

Thanks for getting back with us!

Fleece filters only.

Same with K&N for Mercedes. They look horrible after a few hundred miles and get all distorted in shape. go's to show the pressure/suction in the system.

MANN should be the only brand filter you ever buy for these cars. Amazon is your best friend.

Mahle filters are decent too. But yeah, don't stray from those 2 brands.

thank you for this man, it really helps some of us I think.
I am ordering it tmr. I have put roughly 500 miles on my mobil 1 without any noticeable change in noise. some mechanic suggested that it may go away after the oil wears out a lil but it has been 500 miles so I guess that is not the case.
and where did you get the stainless filter at?

I did not know too much about filter, but I did switch back to Mann after prob 50 miles.
NADA sells mann, i don't really like to order parts online only if I have to, lol, bc I don't like to wait.
