How to reduce drone? (straight pipe set up)
I had my second cats, resonator and muffler delete, so now my car is basically a straight pipe set up (no x or h pipe)
and the cabin drone around 2k rpms is killing me...
with every body wants a arm for their e63, c63 or cls63 mufflers, what would be a cheaper way to go to reduce the drone?
was thinking to put a x pipe on, but not sure if that will help much...
thank you

Mine has flaps fitted in the outer two tail pieces. They're set to open automatically at about 2,800 rpm. Below 2,800 rpm the exhaust note is mild and there is no drone at all. I am able (via a two-way switch in the cabin) to manually set the flaps to the open position from the get-go - which I do from time to time when I want to hear the power that lurks beneath the hood while cruising around at light throttle

Either save up for the 63 muffs or put the e55 cans back on. The extra noise the car makes with straight pipe is just not worth it.
I have mids>3" pipe>basic X pipe>e55 muffs
Plenty loud. No cats in the way. Nice quiet idle, and when I get on it the car screams. It attracts 0 police attention and it pisses off none of my neighbors.

Not sure why people cut there mufflers off.
This will loose a ton of backpressure and cause drone, low end tq lose and raspy farty tones.
Any time you remove all those exhaust parts it will end up being this way.
I would toss resonators were the old mufflers were ,this will stop the drone out and add some t back to the mix.

OP, dont mind the comments on here. This is obviously some members first sports car. I had a nitrous gs430 back in the day with the same exhaust setup and the drone wasnt all that bad. However with the same exhaust setup on this car the drone was sooo bad on the highway. I fixed it by gutting my e55 muffler and welded a straight pipe inside the mufflers. Its just as loud as before but with no drone. Hope this helps.

I ve had e39 m5, 1993 supra tt, 2014 mustang gt all with straight pipe, all have drone, but not as bad as the 55. I know what I am getting into when I cut the muffler off, but did not expect that much drone.
Thank you for everyone's input.

All jokes aside, why don’t you just put the damn mufflers back on

I didn't want to cut the muffler off until, after I took the second cat and resonator off it only increase about 10% in sound, the muffler muted 90% of the exhaust note (without taking the main cats off.)
