2003 CLK320 cranks but won't turn over
This has happened to me 3 times now over the past 3 years. The first 2 times, the MB dealer replaced something in the fuel system and it cost a fortune. IF THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT, WHY DOES IT KEEP HAPPENING. It's only driven on the weekends, so is it the battery? I put a new battery in it last year. What gives.

Out Of Control!!
You drive a fifteen year old MB and they aren't cheap to diagnose and repair---if you won't pay for the diagnostics -------my advice is sell the car and get a scooter!!

you sound like a real ***. thanks for the suggestion. If you can read, you'll see that I've taken it to the dealer twice and paid for diagnostics. my hope was that someone on this site would have a useful suggestion. obviously, wishful thinking.

What did they replace? You didn't give much info to go off of. Cranks but won't turn over makes no sense either. Cranking and turning over are the same thing. It's not the battery.
You're also in the W211 AMG section, you may have better luck asking in the correct section for your car. Also, don't go to the dealer. Find a good indy shop and you'll save yourself some money.

If you jump start it and it turns off or goes into limp mode once you take off the clamps then it's your alternator, if you take the clamps off and your alternator charges your battery then I would suggest getting your battery tested. If your car doesn't turn over at all when you jump it (make sure you jump it for a good 10 mins) then it most likely is your fuel pump or starter. Do the steps above first because it will be all cheaper than a fuel pump or starter. Best of luck to you, let me know what it ended up being.

So...what, exactly, is the problem? Seriously. And don't get insulted because we won't coddle you. You either want to learn or you don't.

Your first post certainly didn't say you paid for diagnostics. It just said you went to the dealer and they replaced something. For once Plutoe's post was highly appropriate.
Everytime I have had an issue at the dealer they have given me the fault codes and the invoice has a description of what was done. Post that information.

You guys are a bit harsh.
The person came inhere hoping you will be of help.
Yes its a wrong section but its not a big deal.
I would go back to the dealer and get specific details on what the did.
That didnt work obviously so we can eliminate and continue to the next thing to troubleshoot.
Starting issue can be many things so we need details to be able to provide any help.
To be honest tho, a forum is not a good place to ask for advice anyway because a lot of people think they know things but they are wrong

It comes across as a unnecessarily rude post, with almost no factual information, I feel like I was the dealer that couldn't fix it. And adults don't use the acronym lmao. Feel free to post the solution to the problem.

I had this over in the W221 forum a while ago; some newbie called me an as*h*le when I asked a very simple question. The guy got offended and left. The solution to his $6300 problem would have cost him $15; I would have given him the answer if he wasn't such a *****. If you are a newbie, you better come in here humble and not talking feces. Until you prove yourself, you are just a FNG (Classical Reference here).

do not take a 2003 Mercedes to the Mercedes dealership. they must really be laughing it up when you come in. sounds like you know absolutely nothing about cars. your best bet is to use Google and find a reputable independent Mercedes mechanic. there are tons of them if you are in nyc, just try to find good online reviews and take it from there.

Folks, this is posted by a brand new account. Only two posts ever made are this thread. Just an internet troll trying to spin people up for kicks I'd guess.
MBwolrd should make an IP check to stop multiple accounts, help cut down on this stuff.
