Intake leak / hesitation

Hey All,

I just picked up a 2003 e55 with 140k. Mods include EC ECU tune, DTK TCU tune, 83mm pulley, shorty headers. I get a slight stutter/hick up when I hit the gas hard. I have read that many e55s have this issue, but could not find a solid remedy. No CEL. A reputable source told me it could be an intake leak. Based on the age, mileage and fact that I live in hot/dry AZ, I was thinking of pulling the intakes and S/C and replacing all gaskets. I know it might be excessive, but I want to go through the car and make it is 100%. Your thoughts? TIA, Mike

Stock throttle body? Are you doing any logging? You could do a smoke test to check where leaks may be coming from. Replacing all the gaskets would definitely be beneficial & you could take a look at the internal sc bearings/ have them replaced at the same time; at 140k it'd be advisable to proactively replace things before they become bigger issues.

Good advice, I appreciate it. So I pulled the engine cover off and noticed this. I called the PO and asked him about it. Apparently the hose cracked and disintegrated, so he capped it. He mentioned the other end goes somewhere under the blower. So as a result, I am thinking I will pull the blower, replace all gaskets and fix it properly...unless someone has a better idea.

Are you certain it's not just a rough supercharger clutch engagement?

This place is a joke.
Not likely an intake leak. Check your fuel pump for burnt connectors (under the back seat) and the relay in the right rear trunk for a burnt plug.

I will need to double check to be sure, but I'm 85% confident on mine, that that T valve is not a 4 way on mine. I have removed the SAI so can check the parts box in the morning.
