My E55 sat in a lot once for 6 weeks and didn’t move an inch. Found out they had no desire to fix the car because MBUSA wouldn’t have paid them. 3 days is still good LOL

Ask them to email you the quick test results. Don’t let them BS you. PM me if you need help.

I always try use the service manager rather than the service drones. The drones dont know anything about cars they work as secretary..

All depends on how knowledgeable they are. The one here is as clueless as the clowns under him. At this point we all fight a battle of uneducated, trained in the job people who have a ton of sales pressure on them. I give them that. If you’re a new rich person who doesn’t care about anything you will say yes to just anything they say. My experience.

update, car is still at the dealer. All they have done is replace the stop lamp switch and brake fluid change. I have to call tomorrow to speak to the director at the dealer and see if he can do anything. Only solution they came up with is someone needs to drive it and see if it will come on again. I'm like you are willing to let someone drive my car risk he's life when or IF it comes on but when it does fail he crashes and dies?!?!. This isn't like someone needs to drive my car and they get a service engine soon light and then they can hook up to it and see what codes there are. This is like ill drive it and maybe if the brakes stop working and maybe if I survive and if your car comes out ok we can get it fixed. It's been reset so it more then likely wont come on but mechanically it will malfunction. I don't want anyone driving my car risking he's life nor do I want to risk my own.

Nobody will die. I sat in a fellow marine’s E55 when the red display and beep came on in the freeway and although he had to depress the brake pedal to the floor we came safely to a stop. The government wouldn’t have given the car a green light without a back up.

I hate it too when they drive my car. 30 years at that dealership as a shop foreman drove it once with me sitting in the passenger seat. He thought he’s driving his own go cart. Flooring it for no reason and driving erratically on the freeway to confirm after they worked on the car they messed up the alignment.

What a clown show.

I’ll respond to your PM later.

agreed. I had SBC act up after the brake fluid change and yes stopping wasnt as easy but nothing too scary just have to anticipate any stops. I wouldnt drive the car every day like that but enough to take me home 1 time.

It's official , I got the letter today from Mercedes Benz telling me that the SBC brake system has been extended for 25 years unlimited mileage . I'm feeling really good tonight knowing that is now covered.

Update, car is still at dealer had to get mbusa involved. Figured it would be difficult to get it replaced but not this difficult. They want me to sign a form stating that if anything happens to me or anyone thats in my car if it fails again the dealer did the best they can according to mbusa and there not liable. Told them I wont be signing anything and if it was you, you wouldn’t either. This is the only thing i got from them it kinda updates and then it doesnt work at all. This is the most recent up to date.

Thanks for the link. As a recent E55 owner, this was one of my concerns. I'll wait a little, then have VMI checked.

Thanks again...

I would rather pay out of pocket and replace the pump myself than deal with these bozo dealers. No way it's going to sit in the dealer lot with nothing being done and getting jerked around and frustrated..
I work at a dealer and know how it is. Been down this road a few times.

We do them same day as long as the part is in stock. I don't know what dealers you guys have to deal with, but I feel sorry for you.

Same. I'll pay the grand out-of-pocket and do it myself. Might also take me twice as long, but I'll be way more meticulous and careful than some poor guy working flat-rate who gets stuck with the work. I've had a few small warranty-covered issues on my SS (one actually might've been a recall... can't remember), but I paid out-of-pocket for the parts on all of them just to avoid taking it in.

As an FYI to replace the SBC unit you need both a motive power bleeder & STAR, which is something a lot of guys don’t have

I made an appointment and dropped the car off at Mercedes of Downtown Los Angeles on 08/31/2018. They loaned me a courtesy vehicle through the long weekend even though I offered to bring the car back on Tuesday since they don't service these type of repairs on Fridays/weekends and Monday was a holiday. I got a text on Tuesday saying the car was ready to be picked and I picked it up on Wednesday. The service tech said all that was necessary was a software reflash. My friend with a similar vehicle (E320 CDI) had a red message on the dash and his vehicle is having the accumulator replaced.

Dropped my 55 at MB of Easton (Columbus, OH) today. Service manager confirmed both the SBC and Fuel tank issues were warranty items. So far, I am happy!

Sounds like they just reset the actuations count. That's not safe, now the sbc unit will keep working until it physically fails. It is supposed to be replaced when the actuation count hits the predetermined limit.
