My bad. I have the bearing on the shelf and should have replaced it while I had the engine compartment opened up. Now I get to tear it apart again.

Replaced the bearing but the clutch material on the supercharger looked really bad and worn out. Picture a manual transmission clutch at 200K miles...not many options out there. Looking for ideas. Car is functional for now but the supercharger clutch is going to be metal-on-metal soon (and it is already showing signs of that). I'm looking for suggestions here, team mates. It's not the pulley, it's the portion with the clutch material on the plate that is attached to the impellers. At this time, I know of no way to replace that portion of the supercharger. Pull the stock supercharger off and install a Weistec for $8000? Brainstorming appreciated, please. This is a potential business opportunity for an entrepeneur.

I know you will hate the idea but fixed pulley is a last resort. Otherwise there must be a way to attach friction material, some sort of thin machined plate and custom shims for the pulley. You can get new clutches but its not cheap, they actually come with new pulleys.
I am sure you can find a used oem in better condition than yours,, I still think FSP is the way to go for short money without worrying about weedwacker damage, I have not installed my 83mm yet but think that should yield a couple of additional HP/TRQ without generating to much heat.
Mine looks like that too. An OEM supercharger replacement might work... no clue how that donut is replaced, I've seen the VRP posts where they remove it for a FSP, but I also read that you need a special tool to pull it off correctly
That friction material is easy to pick out of the coupler. If we could find someone who can chuck up some friction stock in a lathe and turn two rings it could possibly be a DIY job to re-friction those couplers.
I'm not sure if anybody has replaced the just the clutch material. Used stock pulleys come up for sale from time to time; I think that'd be the cheapest route. If you're getting a complete new pulley, might as well go for a smaller one. Or go all out with Weistec

The friction material is not on the pulley, it's only on the coupler, which typically stays on the SC when changing pulleys.
Yeah I just re-read the post now lol. Either a used stock blower or Weistec I guess. Not sure how I feel about a fixed pulley
well weistec is a fixed pulley setup and my understanding they offer tunes if you put a fixed pulley on the mb OEM setup as does Race IQ and possibly EC (not sure about them),,, you could always go twin turbo - guessing that would be about half the cost of the Weistec

This is an excellent idea! Unfortunately for me, I have no idea at this moment where I would find a cylinder of friction material that is a bit over 5 inches in diameter. A lathe I can find or buy.
Anyone have the coupler off of a scrapped supercharger? I'd be willing to try to come up with some measurements on what is needed and see if it is feasible.

Yes Weistec is a fixed pulley set up, I'm just not sure about switching to a fixed pulley on the stock blower (even though many have done it). From what I've been hearing/reading, EC does not tune fixed pulley set ups
A Weistec would be fun but then I'd want a limited slip differential and JoeJErnst's subframe modification. And, I'm sure shortly after that I'd be wanting another transmission because I'd put some wear on mine!

It might be more likely that you could find it in sheets/plates.
