No supercharger engagement after fuel tank recall
So today I finally went to pick up my 2003 e55 after being at the dealer for nine weeks getting the fuel tank replaced under the extended warranty. Drove it out of the parking lot and immediately noticed I had zero supercharger engagement. No boost, no noise, nothing. I went back and they hooked it up to star. it came up with a code for the bypass air flap. I foolishly didn’t take note of the actual code but it had something to do with the electrical requirements being out of tolerance. What did these clowns due to my car? We were able to activate the supercharger clutch with star.

Yeah, total joke. I was told/ lied to by six people at the dealership that they were waiting for a “hardware kit” that was on back order. They insisted there was nothing they could do. I finally had enough & made them give me the part number of the missing kit. Turns out all it consists of are the bolts for the tank straps! I called another dealer nearby and they magically had the bolts that nobody could find. Now I have a new tank & pumps, but no SC function.

That sucks. I dropped my car off on a Monday morning, they sourced a tank from another local dealer later that day and had it done by the time I got off work Tuesday.

My dealer gets things 2 weeks max from either Singapore or Germany if not in the country.
Someone here said the internal parts are a 30 minute job. The tank can't take more than a few hours.

I wonder if the bypass flap has got stuck after sitting for so long or there is some electrical issue it seems. But yes definitely sounds like you dealing with a bunch of clowns. I would drive it as it to another dealership that has more competent people on the floor

Dealer just called and said my car is ready to be picked up. The bypass flap had to be “relearned”. they said it was most likely from sitting so long as noted in the post above.
