Brake Errors: C25D8 and C249F
Still picking away at my new e55. Finally had a chance to pull the codes for the "brake service" warning message i get. The codes are C25D8 (stored) "inspect wheel brakes for mechanical faults" and C249F (current) "Check operating time of component A7/3 (SBC hydraulic unit).
Does the second one mean the SBC has exceeded its hours and needs to be replaced by the dealer? Any other thoughts?

Should be covered by MB's new 25 year extended warranty on SBC. Check with dealer to confirm.

Yes, I have the letter from the previous owner from Mercedes that states the SBC is covered for 25 years on my car. I just wanted to be sure that the code it was throwing was a "slam dunk dealer will replace free of charge" before I go in there and they diagnose it as something else and charge me for that.

How long before goes to red?
Looks like I have been blessed with the C249F error that my SBC service life has been reached. Great news on the warranty, I will be calling the dealer tomorrow. One question regarding the error. I am assuming that at a certain point, the error will change from a service error to a "fatal" red error. Can anyone verify this, and if it does go to Red, how much time/miles do I have? I have a couple trips and the dealer is approximately 30 miles away, so I figure I will put an additional 300 miles on the car before it gets into the service bay.
Thanks in advance,
Remnar

Well the point of a fatal error is that it's fatal. Once you get the red fatal error, you don't have any time/miles, you just basically lose 90% of your braking power and you'll have a hard time stopping. Most of the time it doesn't seem to end up in an accident. You may have some time between now and when it actually fails though as it's just basically a counter as to when the brakes will fail and they're on the conservative side. But it's still basically guessing when the pump will fail. You might be ok. But it's your life, your choice.

And the other thing is, that it will require that you plant both feet of the brake pedal and apply as much brake pressure as possible to stop. Not a good feeling when a stop light is approaching.
