akebono brake pads any good

I bought a set of akebono for my fronts and was wondering these are not tapered off on the edges like some other pads. I really don't want any brake noise or squeeks. The ones I got the edges are not tapered there flat surface edge to edge. I know many car manufacturers use them. I want to buy it and forget about it for the next who knows how long till I replace them again. Do these pads make noise? or should I send them back and pick up EBC Red Pads? I'm replacing my rotors as well got Zimmerman's. https://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/432...-Front-EUR983/

Akebono makes a variety of pad types. You may want to consider identifying the pads you're seeking input on and the type of driving you do most of the time

Like many other members here I bought the same combo from FCPEuro and have had no issues in about 9k miles. The pads still look like they have full thickness and I don’t get as much break dust. No noises either, but I definitely feel like maybe the bite is a little lackluster vs. OEM. Overall, great buy for daily driving.

Agree...however I personally feel the small amount of bite reduction is more than offset by the lack of brake dust from the factory pads which were forcing me to clean the wheels every other day...jmo.

I ran Akebono pads on my W210 E55 and was happy with them. Wish they made them for my E63.

Yes, me too. But now I run Stop Tech, they have a Carbon Ceramic pad, that is awesome. Yes, you give up on that great initial bite, but gain dust free wheels. I think it's a good trade off.

I have them on my CLK55 and just put all new brakes on my E55. I love them. Wheels stay clean and shinny without all the OEM pad brake dust!

The mind boggles why people would choose an OE pad of any make .

Can't wait to change mine out and will take note and vilify whatever dog poo make these volcanic dust pads they are .

With the environmental war on particulates I can see OE pads banished into deep space within the phantom zone .

I dont know what pads it has now but i get lots of dust front and rear. To a point i gave up cleaning my wheels and just call it flat black i stead of satin lol. Unfortunately they eat away at the paint if left on too long. Hopefully these akebono’s do better. Im hoping because the sides are not tapered they wont squeek and make noise.

Performance of the ceramics do not match the OE when wet and cold but the tradeoff is in excessive brake dust

I used them on a lot of my cars. Virtually no brake dust and they stop better as they heat up. Slow speed stopping and wet, they tend to have a little fad. I just hate brake dust on a daily basis from OEM`s.

I personally hated the Akebono's on my 500. It stopped like **** and at times I couldn't stop at all 80 to zero was scary...

After going semi-metallic again zero issues(OEM)
