Installing my PLM Heat Exhanger and Bosch 010 pump. Any tips?

Tore the front bumper off last night for my e63 bumper swap and Im going to do my PLM heat exhanger and Bosch 010 pump at the same time. Any tips for install? Best way to bleed the system after? Just run the pump with the bleeder valve open and over to the reservoir? Thanks!

That's pretty much it! Those were the first two things I did when I bought mine last year, hardest parts was getting the bumper back on by myself haha.

If you have a clear tube to run coolant back it helps to watch air bubbles getting less, as well as squeezing one of the hoses below the bleeder to get a better flow.

PLM mounts up great.

Good luck!

May need to file the holes a bit larger on the PLM to get fit properly. Clean and lube the side clamps on the bumper and shouldn't be too difficult to get it to slide on.

I used your write up along with the video when I did the job recently.

Excellent write up and the best part...The pictures! I used your idea of jumping the pump relay in the trunk and it worked perfect. Took about ten-15 minutes of constant running to bleed out the air bubbles. I used 5/8 clear tubing.

E63 bumper getting painted tonight. Got the system bled last night via jumping the relay in the truck and a 5/8" clear hose. Should the pump be running when i remove the hose from the bleed nipple and re-install the cap? or does it not matter?

Now the only question is what size supercharger pulley do I order

Don't need the pump running to remove the hose.

83mm is a good upgrade while keeping IATs under control.

I was going to say my only real recommendation is a headlamp, but with the bumper off that should be a really easy job. I had trouble seeing up in that little black hole behind the bumper when I did that job about a month ago. If you haven't already removed the air suspension completely, I would change the feed hoses on the compressor while you have that apart as well, as they tend to dry rot, are cheap, and like the coolant pump, would be much easier with the bumper off the car.

How did you fit both heat exchangers in there?
