Help...seat belt locked up and won't extend

Hey folks,

My seatbelt is locked up in my 06 e55, and won't pull out from the B-pillar. I can't buckle up. This happened out of nowhere, as it was fine one day, and wont extend the next. I have STAR, if that helps, but after a quick browse, couldn't find any specific seatbelt functions.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Nope...I'm waiting for a used replacement belt to arrive first. I figured if I am going to dig in, I might as well have a replacement part on hand, if needed. Thanks

Happened to me on my E350. You take the B pillar apart. Once you can get at the mechanism, if you try blowing it out, it may start working. That's what happened to mine. Once it was all blown out with air, it started working again. It was a little dusty in there. You can also send them out to be repaired if blowing it out doesn't work.

I know I'm stating the obvious here but you DID retract the belt all the way, right? Fully extending a belt to the stop causes a lock to engage that allows it only to be retracted until it is fully retracted at which point you'll be able to extend it again.
I accept your field promotion from lieutenant to Captain Obvious...

When mine failed, it was fully retracted, couldn't pull it out. Didn't get a good look at the mechanism but whatever it was, it just wouldn't let you pull the belt out. Worst case for me would have been to send the belt out to get rebuilt if blowing it out didn't end up fixing it. Didn't trust a used belt because it might have been in an accident.

Thanks guys. My situation is exactly like cetialpha5 above. It is fully retracted. I had it on one day...took it off/retracted, and then the next day it just wouldn't pull out. It was also never fully extended to the stop. I am going to try the compressed air trick, and if that doesn't work, worst case is to slap in the used belt.

Many thanks!
