Fuel injector issue (P0207)
My 2006 E55 AMG has a gasoline smell coming from the engine bay after starting up and idling. I used my MB II reader from iCarsoft and came across this code.
Y62y7(Fuel Injector cylinder 7)(P0207) for cylinder #7.
Is this a bad fuel injector or could I just be dealing with bad seals & O-rings? I'd like to hear from others with this issue so i can budget for it accordingly.
Also after I go for a drive there is no gas smell in the engine due to airflow going through the engine. That said is it safe to drive carefully until it gets fixed or should I park the car until I get it into a shop?
Thanks.

If not, it could just be dirt in the injector. Buy some techron, and techron fuel cleaner and run a couple of bottles through your tank.

While granted the car was sitting for a year before I bought it the first thing I did when I drove it around was put fuel system cleaner (Gumout) in it, along with a bottle of Iso-heet and a 2nd bottle of Gumout fuel cleaner on my 2nd fuel tank.
Would dirt in the fuel injector cause a gasoline vapor smell around the engine bay at start up?
The code is for Cylinder #7 as well.

It is current and stored. It even says the light is on (Even though no check engine light is on)

A BOSCH 62717 injector (1130780123) is $41.79 and a set of O-rings for that injector are $1.56. I think it would be easiest just to plan to replace the injector and O-rings at these prices. Rockauto prices, btw.

The only exception are for parts they don't offer. (like LED parking lamps which I got from Amazon or a passenger sun visor)

It's all a balance. Sometimes their prices are WAY out of whack, and you already have a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer. I split between Rockauto, FCP Euro, an online dealer that I've been using that ships fast AND my local dealer parts department. eBay for used parts. Generally I don't trust Amazon for car parts but YMMV.

I have yet to come across one of those from the manufacturer except my ACDelco Fuel pump for my 2002 GMC Sierra 1500.

Bilstein (and Arnott). That Bosch fuel injector. NGK plug wires I just bought. I see it all the time. I click Info on Rockauto and scroll to the bottom where it states the warranty. Is FCP Euro's lifetime warranty more universal? Of course. Is it easier to use in some cases? Probably. But I'm not going to pay a premium for it if I already have it. That's how I look at it.

This is a lucid, intelligent, well thought-out way to replacing parts on German vehicles (and it's my exact method for years).

I won't buy parts from anywhere except FCPEuro.com. That said they have an injector for $45 and O-ring for $4.90. I'll probably have my local indy mechanic do it.

I also question why someone is concerned over lifetime warranty when they pay someone else $100-125/hour to replace a $40 part on their car. Who cares what the part cost, or whether it's under warranty when you're paying more in labor than the part?
I can afford to have someone fix my cars. The problem is every time I let them touch any of my vehicles (including AMG mechanics at the dealer), they break several things, lie about breaking things, lie about not driving the car like a psycho, or just completely f--k basic **** up that they shouldn't. This is after I've already diagnosed something and just tell them to "replace X part" and don't drive the car.

2nd the mechanic I’m going to is a former certified Mercedes dealer technician who started up his own shop. He’s been in the business for over 20 years.

Buy a set of O rings for each injector and clean them as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-V8CLDNi7WA
I will leave it to my trusted Mechanic. That's the final decision I'm making so please respect that.
Regardless Alex is a great man and got me into the W211 Mercedes so I tip my hat to him.

This place is a joke.
Myself, nor anyone else can tell you that without seeing the car in person and properly and professionally diagnosing it. Internet car forums or GoofTube aren't the right place for these situations. I'm happy to see that you already know that.

I would replace that injector and all O-rings on that bank. If you want to be precious with the car, replace all the injectors and O-rings on that bank, or the entire engine (not my money). Probably not necessary but if you are into the rail, the extra labor to throw new injectors in the rest isn't really much extra.
It would be funny if the issue was because the car has sat so much in its life.

If you're capable of replacing the injector, it's worth the $60 in parts to find out. Put it in, problem solved? You have your answer. The error code is a safe bet it's worth the $60.
They changed the injectors in 06. Make sure you have the right part number.
