This is a pic of underneath the hood ornament. How do you remove it? Do you need a special tool? Does the part denoted by the arrow screw out or come out some other way?????

grab the base that you have in your picture and twist it counterclockwise a quarter turn. i think it's counterclockwise, i don't remember exactly which way. once you do, it will pop out from the top very easily.

When looking up under the hood, hold the star and use some pliers to grab one of the "c" shaped fins to do a 1/4 turn counterclockwise. ..then from the top of the hood, carefully lift the star up and out so you don't scratch the hood.

first you need an air chisel, a 1/2 drill with an easy out drill bit, a large hammer, duct tape... j/k had the same question then i found out how easy it was. what are you putting in there?
