The above will get you started. The E55 is a great car. Far from perfect yet a fun beast...

I also have the panoramic sunroof with solar panels!
Even though there are lots of engine mods out there, I say keep it stock because as soon as you start tweaking the engine, you open it up for issues.
Your car is 17 years old, it's gonna have old car issues. To put my money where my mouth is, I'm focusing on restoring the car instead of modifying it. My goal is to get it to where it was when it rolled off the showroom floor. On my 2003 with 140K miles, I've done:
- Suspension refresh
- Motor mounts
- Transmission mounts
- Transmission service
- Patched trunk wiringing harness (common issue with all W211s)
- New rear air springs (Arnott). Front are also Arnott, done by the previous owner.
- New rear shocks (OEM).
- Making sure all buttons and switches work.
- About half of my seat bladders are cooked. I have a complete OEM replacement set in-hand waiting for the time to replace them all.
I had dreams of finding the stock wheels for this car, but as @bbirdwell mentions, the OEM wheels are soft as butter and very few have lasted this long in decent condition. So, I went with Brabus replicas. I like them because the angles of the spoke match those of the car.

Also consider:
- Thoroughly cleaning and conditioning the leather. It's 17 years old.
- UV tint (even clear). This will protect the leather as well as occupants from heat. I'm getting clear UV tint when I get around to it.
EDIT:
Here's a thread that kinda illustrates what it's like to own and restore one of these: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...peed-sled.html

Real talk, these cars will smoke 99.9% of the cars you'll come across on the road and you probably won't get many opportunities to push its limits when stock. Do the "transmission reset" procedure to see what it really wants to do. Never put it in dyno mode on the road. It will get away from you...stock. People mod the hell out of their cars trying to make it like this car. There are some that prefer the W211 E55 engine to the E63 because the supercharger provides instant power compared to the lag of the E63's turbos.

what is a transmission reset? I have a 2006 E55 AMG? How do I know if I should perform one?
