Ok...I'm driving home on I75 North w/ cruise control on 75mph about 10pm. I see headlights coming up on me pretty fast and soon they are on my bumper. They hang there for about 5-10 seconds and they gun it and pass me...I'm just chilling so I let them be all they can be (looked like 3 guys in a late model Ford Cobra). Here's the kicker...they SLOW down until there are next to me and gun it again...

Needless to say, I think they just wanted to have fun w/ "an A-hole in a Mercedes" (I can just hear them saying it). Not wanting to disappoint them...I gun it when they get next to me again and they decide start to accelerate away from me.

...SOOO I'm now @ 120mph and they look like they are standing still...it seemed like a couple blinks of an eye and I was there...PASSED my exit...my adrenaline got the best of me for 10 seconds...I eventually got home, though.

OK...childish I know...admit it though, you gotta do it once in awhile...damn AMG...

Sorry Jose...next time you take me out in your W210 E55...folks his car is CLEAN and sweet!!! We met up in Clearwater MB dealership and he sat in the car and we took a couple of runs on US 19.

There are parts of I75 in the Tampa area that they really sit and hide for you...luckily I was between two points of interest for the highway patrol...

I can only tell you that it seemed like everything was in slow motion (strange I know) considering it was only several seconds...I could only focus on the road in front of me and boom I looked down and I glanced @ 120mph...

Anyone who has done this can probably attest to this feeling...If you are talking about looking for highway patrol...I wasn't looking at that speed...I probably would have passed them by the time my mind would have registered they were FHP...

Luck and knowing the road helped a lot...

Yeah I know the feeling...Its called light speed. At least in my book it is. All of my friends, the second they get in the car, just start saying light speed, come on, pleeeeeaseee. Try it on a narrow street with cars parked on both sides. Roll down your windows and listen. Sounds and feels like youre in a Star Wars flick.

My car might be clean but man yours is fast and very nice equipped AMGFAN's car is the first w211 E55 i have taken a ride in, thks for the experience.

It's funny...my records been clean for years, but in the past I have mostly been stopped on residential streets (50 in a 35 for example). Now, I just put my cars on cruise control in residential areas just as a force of habit...its stupid to fast and furious it in those areas anyway...easier to die that way then on the highways...just my .02.

ONE TIME ONLY......145 MPH @ 10pm with clear road ahead (and knowing the road). Waiting for the speed limiter to kick at 155 but ran out of road before I could get there. Better to do it at night between bridges (on toll roads or interstate) when you dont see any lights around. Most of the cops in my area would fall asleep parked on the side of the road (lights off) waiting for traffic to come along while they're parked. I must have been crazy at the time but it was when I first got it. cant wait to get the CLS 55. Anyone know when they will offer the CLS 55 with designo option?

What is the deal with Mustang Cobras, are they just THAT slow??? I blew one off in my M5!! (I need to list it by the way, got tired of putting miles on the E55 so I got a '95 Euro M5... LOVE it)
