Randomly, my radio stop working. Won't even boot. Just shows the AMG logo for a while then goes black. Then, when the car sits overnight, the battery is drained and it won't start.
Oddly, if I disconnect the battery to charge it, then reconnect, the issue goes away and the radio works fine. You can see how this makes it very difficult to pull codes... Any clues?
There is a "soft" reboot of COMMAND that requires holding down one or two buttons on the radio for at least 19 seconds (IIRC) and a "hard" reboot that requires pulling two fuses in the driver's side dashboard fuse box. That will reset your radio and might stop the battery drain if it is COMMAND causing the problem.
I had to use the "hard" reset one time in the ten years I have owned the car. Advanced search should find the procedure. That's how I found it years ago. I didn't have the battery drain but the failure to boot symptom sounds the same.
If you can't find it, let us know and I'll dig in my maintenance files to find it. Please post your results for others.

Most likely not the Command, but more likely the AGW (Audio Gateway) module in the back...There should be a fuse for that in the rear SAM, pull it and see if you still have battery drain.
had a similar experience before with the w221 s550 while driving suddenly the command stops working then restarts by its self then not working ... the reason for me was the alternator is about to die... the alternator was going on and off while driving and that caused the issue ...
my advice test you alternator to see if it doesn't stop working randomly while driving... to do that , start your car and let it idle for 10 minutes ( for the alternator to get hot ) then disconnect the battery cables and let the car idle for 10 or 15 minutes ... if it runs fine then your alternator is fine... if it worked for a few minutes then shutdown then it means the alternator stopped at that point and there is no battery to compensate for the drop in volt... and you will then need to replace your alternator.

It sounds like your E55 may have a faulty radio or electrical component causing battery drain. Check the battery, alternator, and radio wiring. A parasitic drain might also be the issue. I've been able to skate by just pulling the fuse and putting it back in and the problem would go away for days/weeks.
but now the problem has gotten so bad the audio gateway fan will just kick on at night with the car off and drain the battery, so I have to keep the fuse pulled entirely
Anyone know of a fix? I'm handy with a soldering iron so I'd rather not just buy a new AGW
2007 s550 command does not work and battery drains.
I'm having this exact same issue with my 2007 S550 W221. The battery is draining way too much when not in use and the command center does
not turn on, it only shows the Mercedes emblem. Did anyone figure out exactly what was wrong with their car?? Let me know please.
