Just returned from the track and was a little disappointed...
Anyway, I'd be interested in knowing what others are getting in the quarter mile? Also, what others are getting with a tune?
Oh, the car hooked real well. No traction problems at all.
Has anyone else had the opportunity to run their cars. Is so, please post so that we can compare results. There are lots of times posted on the C-63 sites.
Thoughts?

I don't expect stellar results from the E63, it is too heavy, but the 108mph, @13 sounds a little too low.
Keep in mind, when you're staging the car, you only have so many feet to straighten the car out when you drive around the water box. On the street, I never have a problem getting into rs mode.
Once I get the message that I'm in the rs mode, I have no problem pulling back on the right paddle shifter to confirm. I just have trouble getting the trans knob into the rs mode. All other transmission modes worked without a hitch.
I guess there are lots of requirements that much be met before it allows you to choose rs.

Many of the newbies don't realize this, but Fontana is one of the worst tracks in California (especially now that LACR is closed). It is at a relatively high elevation and even higher density altitude. It also tends to also have high humidity and hot weather (even in December).
You should've came to Famoso on Saturday.... the track prep was excellent and we had an amazing group of cars running all day including the addicting Ferrari 458 Italia. Because it was a private event, there were only 35 cars, so some of the guys had over 50 runs in
We also had 3 tuners on site, 2 to 3 expert mechanics, and lots of tools. You could've possibly tried a tune at the track to see how much it benefited the car (before and after the tune), and if you didn't like it, you would've gotten a refund instantly
What was your 60' time? Can you post your time slip? We can correct it for you and give you an (approximate) idea of how better your times would be at a better track. For reference, I ran 12.35 (100% stock) at Fontana in January but my car is a W211 E63.

I know that Fontana isn't the best track around. But, it's closer than Famosa.
At least the weather was good on Saturday. It was in the mid 50's.
I've ran several cars at Fontana in the past. And, I agree. it's not a fast track. I use to run my Corvette there which ran in the mid 11's. The E63 is the easiest car to drive down the 1/4 mile. Just point and go... Traction was excellent... shifting was all done by the car. Not too many ways to make a mistake.
Were there any E63 running at Famosa on Saturday. If so, can you post their times?
I did get a chance to race an 04 E55. He was stock and ran a
11.7@ 111mph
Here are the numbers of my best run:
60':2.082
1/8 mile: 8.484@85.61mph
1/4 mile: 13.04@108.09mph
Please let me know what that works out to at sea level.
Thanks,

Thanks,

I need the exact time of the run to be able to correct it.
However, I think your problem is definitely the 60' time. If you can drop that to 1.80, you'll be in the 12.60s easily. Then with better air, you'll hit 12.40s
How many miles were on the car? The 63 like to have 5k to 7k before they really open up

You're making me feel better about the poor results. I really enjoy the car and didn't purchase it for drag racing. But, it's also nice to know that I bought a performance car. I agree with you that all good ET's began with good 60' times. Do you think I can pull a 1.80 60' with stock tires?
The actual time of the run was 1:51pm I hope that helps.
I have just under 5000 miles on the od. So the motor should be well broken in.?
I have not heard of any other times posted on the E63's. Have you?
Thanks again for all the good info.

Before I post the corrected times, please understand that this correction does not mean you ran those corrected times. All it shows is that your car may possibly run those corrected times given good conditions. In the end, you may or may not be able to run those times as every car acts differently on the track and every track has different conditions.
The website I usually use (smokemup) is having some problems retrieving data from that day at Fontana for some reason. It was working yesterday but now is erroring out
So I used dragtimes' corrections for now:Approximate temp at 1:53 pm: 60.1 F
Approximate humidity at 1:53 pm: 35%
Approximate pressure at 1:53 pm: 30.01 in
Approximate DA at 1:53 pm: 1422 ft
Uncorrected Pass: 13.04 @ 108.09 mph
Corrected Pass: 12.83 @ 109.82 mph

I have attended and ran other cars while using a private track day. And, it is nice to get many runs and get use to your car. As far as my car, there really isn't much to change. If I use rs, and traction is not an issue, I would expect the same 60' times. Then once the car is in motion, the car shifts on its own. Right?
I think that the only variables would be good air and elevation factors?
Again, thanks for researching and posting the corrected numbers.
