Question INSTALLED NEW TIRES, hankooks, THIS IS SCARY PLEASE ADVISE

So I decided after weeks of thorough research to replace my pirellis on my 2010 E63 (19" wheels) with the HANKOOK VENTUS EVO V12 wheels and tires.

I kept the same factory size set up.

My first impressions with these tires were great! They felt amazing, no road noise, very soft over bumps, smooth ride, very comfortable at high speeds, unbelievable traction in both dry and wet launches. I could not believe how amazing the car felt.

HOWEVER AFTER MY FIRST DAY OF LONG HIGH WAY DRIVING I NOTICED A FLAW THAT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY: when driving at around 60 miles per hour i toyed to abruptly switch lanes, the car felt like it was very wobbly. When shifting lanes it felt as though i was going to loose control of the car as the steering wheel started wobbling side to side slightly and the car felt like it slid a tiny bit.

I know these sidewalls are soft but this unsecure feeling should not be present. Im running at 38psi cold in the front (41 after they get warm) and 40psi in the rear (42 after they get warm).

could it be my tire pressure set up causing this "wobble?" Should I deflate or inflate maybe?

Or is it just how these tires are made? Please help.

They also dont feel too responsive.

I just installed this tires on my C63 last week. I can't say that I've experienced this yet...although I did read some customers experienced this in the review section on tirerack.com...but they had an overall user rating of 8.4 - which was higher than most of the other tires (including my stock PZeros...)

They aren't the best tires I have driven on but I am happy with them.

When driving at over 60 mph and jerking the steering wheel hard to the right, the whole car wobbles excessively. No one noticed the same?

You might be slightly over inflated in the rears if you are on stock 19's... check your door jam on the driver's side.

I think you should be running closer to 36 psi cold... I cant confirm as I dont have the E63 with me today but 40 psi cold seems too high even with full load.

I've had Hankooks on my 530i, M5, M6 and E63... I never experienced anything like this.. You may want to have them looked at wherever you purchased them.

I usually keep my PSI around 36 in the front and 38 in the rear. Maybe there is some kind of balance issue with your wheels... if one of your rims is not balanced correctly it could cause vibrations and such at different speed increments.

You probably just need to break the tires in. I have the same problem with my nexen n3000's when I installed them. But after a week or two of driving the tires grip a lot better.

Sounds like a balancing problem. Are you sure they balanced your wheels correctly? I know incorrect balance will cause the steering wheel to vibrate. You should also check if your tire formed any bubbles on the tread...you could get it replaced under warranty.

My bet is on the balancing IMO.

a car that gets very poor gas mileage.
If I read correctly, sounds like he is describing a wobbling, not vibration.
But I would certainly test first by adjusting tire pressure before doing anything else.
Try lower, drive, try higher, drive, etc.
See if there are any changes.

I had the same tires on a previous CLS63 and did not notice the wobbling you're describing during lane changes or any driving for that matter.

Thanks for all the advice guys,

The problem i experience is not vibration, when i switch lanes or make a hard lane switches i feel like the car is wobbling side to side about to loose stability. i find the car is not a responsive as with the pirellis either.

so far tire pressure tested:

38 front 40 rear (not good)

42 front and 42 rear (not good)

will try 37 all around.

found 38 upfront and 36 rear to be better. I found this set up strange as the car recommends more psi in the rear?

not as wobbley/wavey at high speeds. Better cornering. still not as responsive as pirellis but pretty good.

You should contact Hankook. Maybe you got a batch of defective tires.

Good... I never run the full load recommendation as I rarely have 4-5 adults in the car. I think you will be better off at 36 all the way around.
