Production Delay on 2012 E63's?
I ordered my E63 on October 24th. I emailed my sales guy yesterday asking him for any word on the production date and ETA to the dealer? He replied back today- "I just got told that there is a delay at the factory on E63's, our factory rep said it should show a date in next months report with a date." Has anyone else heard this or did my sales guy forget to put the order in a month ago?

Thanks for your replies. Makes me wonder if someone walked in offering more $ than my agreed upon price and is getting my E63. Looks like I better talk to the General Manager.

Arriving 1/12: E63 Wagon, P30, Limited Slip, Carbon Fiber Trim, 19" 5 Spoke Wheel
Ordered my E63 wagon in October. Was built complete with a VIN last week and is on a boat. Set to arrive in SoCal Jan. 3. Doesn't sound like production delay. Hope this helps.

i don't buy the theory that dealer forgot to order either. I guess if you said, "hey order me an E63" and did nothing to ensure the slot was yours, then they may have sold your slot to someone else. In my case, I gave them a check for $1k to attach my name to the build slot, allow me to customize the car how I want it, and track when its getting built and shipped. I can choose not to purchase the car if I want (but likely would not be getting my $1k back but am sure i could use it to purchase something else if i wanted)
Will be interesting to see what they tell you since the build slots are assigned to dealers

In addition to a long vacation I've avoided this thread in an attempt to not get too wound up re the delay on my E63. I spoke to the general manager right after my last post. He said that the order went in back on October 24th but for some unknown reason my 63 just hadn't been built yet. I had no good options but to take his word for it since I'm very specific how I want the car configured. A few weeks ago a different dealer called to see if I wanted one of the 63's he has in stock. I explained my situation and he checked the system and confirmed that mine hadn't been sold out from underneath me, it hadn't been built yet. He could see it in the system for a January 24th build date. Then I got an email 3 days ago from my sales guy saying mine was built on the 18th and he'll let me know when it ships. Not exactly Blue Angels precision on this manufacturing process but it's not the end of the world. I like to think I'll have it in a month or so.
Thanks for your replies and advice.

Mine's a minimalist E63. Now that P2 is standard I only want the Driver's Assist Package and rear side airbags. I may have screwed up by not ordering the upgraded wheels but I can swap those out later if I'm convinced I made a mistake. The color combo is black exterior, black leather with the black ash wood.
