"Don't forget your key" message

My 2012 E63 states "Don't forget your key" both when ENTERING the car and exiting the car. It seems a bit odd that the car would show this when opening the door and entering the car. Does everyone else's car do this as well?

Completely normal. It does sound stupid, but it wouldnt know the difference between various scenarios. It's just a precaution, although, it definitely is a weird one.

The bad is you can't lock the door unless the alarm gets activated. And the alarm causes parasitic drain on the battery. In my garage, I only need the doors locked.

Yeah, those sensors are so sensitive that if you have the keys in your pocket while washing the car, the lock/unlock just keep going on and off when water gets sprayed on the door handles.

Just leave the key in the car and you won't have that issue.

That's a good idea. But with so much going in and out of the house during that period of time, I just don't feel like leaving an unattended car on the driveway with key inside. Maybe I'll just lock it and throw the key inside the house while washing.

I recently disconnected my battery to install a new Android screen.
I never noticed the "Dont Forget Key" message when ENTERING the vehicle, which is now happening.
Did I miss this all along and am now only just noticing it?
I only have remembered seeing this when EXITING the car prior to working on the screen/ disconnecting the battery (neg terminal only).
I'm just thankful messing with the battery didn't throw any warning that others have described.
Out of curiosity is anyone else with a C300 (mine's a 2017) confirm the "Dont forget Key" message while getting in the car for my sanity's sake?

Both my C and E class display the message on entering and exiting.
