SuperSprint releases W212 M167 5.5TT E63 full exhaust!

Hey guys,

SuperSprint just finished R&D on their latest full system developed for the E63 W212 5.5TT model.

The kit is made from 70mm 304 stainless steel and is modular; it includes downpipes, HJS cats moved downstream under the car, centre H-pipes and rear mufflers with oval tips. You can leave the stock mufflers and tips for a OEM look and fit downpipes and cats for performance and sound increases.

Pricing, dyno and sound clips are set for release by early July.

In the meantime, here are development pictures. All welds and products shown are in prototype stages!

Sound is increased through the removal of the center resonator and straight through rear mufflers. The small "bullet" resonators on the front pipes are also removed and the HJS cats are placed at their original location for better flow from the downpipes.

This system will perform better (when opting for the full catted or catless system) and sound much better with the cat-back only as well.

Anyone considering a tune should couple it with a free flowing exhaust system to maximize gains and truly unleash the power of the M167.

most tunes seem to bring the car up to 630hp now with out any other mods....how much more would the exhaust add? 20-30?

How does the H-pipe affect the sound of the car compared to X-pipe?

The full system (catted or catless) will allow to run a stage 2 tune bringing the M167 to about 600whp 670wtq.

The H pipe allows to retain the signature AMG bark. The X pipe combined with the biturbo layout toned down the bark and smoothed out the sound, which isn't what you guys want!

The cool thing is the system is fully modular with the stock rear mufflers, you can have the round tips or the rectangular AMG tips.

You are on the right track, as a generic rule of thumb:

Stage 1: Tune only

Stage 2: Tune + Full exhaust (catted or catless will influence the tune)

I believe Omar @ Velos has a stage 1 and stage 2 tune ready.

So basically the H-pipe is just a straight pipe?

Are tunes ready to deal with the codes that the exhaust will throw off? Are programs already written to bypass sniffers behind where the cats used to be? I remember years ago with my Z06, the exhaust had "bungs" that held OEM or replacement sensors, and the tune was written to ignore any codes that would have been triggered by removing the cats. Pretty important if you don't want to drive with a check engine light flashing.

What's most odd to me is that those welds are far from the thing of beauty welds I'm used to seeing on Supersprint setups:

As stated in the OP, those are all prototype welds that were quickly made to test fit various parts. All the final production pieces will have the classic clean welds that customers have come to expect from SuperSprint.

I noticed that on my car as well as in the pics, the driver's side portion of the stock downpipes after the cat is flattened. Is this for any particular reason?

Also it would be great if you could post up some sound clips as well as PM me with some pricing info

The OEM system require a bit more clearance due to the size of the primary cats. Sound clips will be released, SuperSprint did state the full "race" system might be too much for daily usage and they will release a resonated center section to accommodate those that want to run a full catless setup.

Pricing is set for release next week!

Should change the thread title to the correct designation, M157, not M167.
