M157 Long run reliability?
Can we expect the m157 to be reliable in the long run, Lets say 80k miles+? I plan to keep my car for many years to come and frankly would love to see this remarkable engine prove durable.

I have heard that all induction units eventually fail despite turbo units being more durable and reliable nowadays compared to before. With those turbos being so deep and low in the M157, it wouldn't be a simple removing and popping in a new one. The entire engine will need to be removed from the engine bay for the work to be done. And if you are not under warranty, you better have a very thick wallet.

Yeah that definitely is something to think about. So would the m156 theoretically be better for longevity?

Yes, if the headbolts issue has been taken care of. I see the C63 side of the forum has also given some good infos regarding the direct injection, high pressure pump, etc.

Based on the location of turbos on engines in general, and on the procedures typically carried out for those turbo swap. I wonder if anyone has access to resources from MB for such a procedure.
