2015 dodge charger hellcat 707 hp, article :

with some aftermarket tuning and bolt ons it should be good for a thousand horsepower correct?
and all for $60,000....
Not sure the dealers are going to ask for such big markups... It's still a 20k car sooped up with a big engine.... Time will tell once they hit showrooms.
New Z06 is also going to be a beast!
I don't know how much more the engine can take without internal modifications. I have a feeling we're not going to see many highly modified Hellcat equipped Dodge's...
Fuel consumption is actually pretty good for the Hellcat equipped vehicles...
Yup, as mentioned above, dealers are already asking for $20k above MSRP. There probably won't be too many of these on the road. I won't be worried at all when I run into one.

And what about replacing the supercharger with a much larger unit, the Hellcat comes with a very small 1.7 or 1.9 liter supercharger correct? What about replacing with a 3.0 liter Weistec type or KenneBelle or even bigger 3.6 or 4 liter supercharger? Wondering how the engine would hold up heat wise in the high humidity south in the summertime in bumper to bumper traffic with all the bolt on's and tuning applied to it......
Interesting car. Clearly 700hp is well within the capability of any of the big car makers.
The new Z06 is 650hp, yes? In a 3100lb car. I dont doubt it will out-drive the Hellcats in any situation short of 2 passengers.
All that said, I have a 10 second C6 Z06 and I very rarely drive it. The E63 is so comfortable and convenient in all conditions.
I sound like an old man :-/

How much more power do you need on the street... It's already overpowered for the street. Do most people drag racing at the track have factory warranties covering their rides?

- a clutch that holds 700lb-ft is a pain in the *** in traffic.
- a tire that will put 700lb-ft down won't last more than 5k miles.
- like any manufacturer putting 500+ hp in the hands of anyone with the key, the TC/AH is going to be aggressive and quick. Add a 200+ treadwear tire and the car will just sit on reduced power through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd unless the driver turns it off. Something most people dont have much of a desire to repeatedly do.
I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer here... There's just a lot more to cars than horsepower and torque... and I have never once looked at a Charger or Challenger and thought "I'd love one of those, if only it was faster."
And where in the world will even 1 out of 100 customers realize that it goes 204 mph???? West Texas?

This thread is civil and well articulated, and no dodge or benz bashing going on (yet)... but even if the hellcat came with 900hp for $40k and AWD, I still would never feel in it like I do in the Benz... will some on other forums say I got ripped off by Benz for a slower car for double the price .. sure they will, but they gotta bash something and I know why i bought the benz.
Some of you are clearly butt hurt and that's ok. :0) By the way the car has forged internals from what I read. And even though dodges computers are hard to get in and tune , you can rest assure we will see pulley/tune on this motor soon. Just too much potential not to. I also read a 6 speed dynoed almost 650 stock. We could be close to 800 rwhp by this time next year..again this is great for competition and that's what's it's all about. Some of you have taken this like a personal challenge to the E63 and for car guys like me who also have a 335 and h/c c6 z06 , we just love great competition..that's what's it all about. Having many choices. Can you imagine if everyone drove the same thing? Actually is kill myself if I had to drive a carolla hahaha

That's just the reality. For those not able to afford a $100k car, the $60k hellcat is a great car to get similar performance but most will not confuse the dodge for a true luxury marque
If I lived in the south, would seriously consider as my second car or weekend car. Yes, lambo/ferrari is "better","fancier", but there is something to be said about old-school raw power and looks....
off topic.... but this is one other option to look at if you want "really old-school"

again add drag radials to awd and perf isn't going to increase much if anything vs rwd Hellcat that runs same 10.85 all day long too..

Hellcat Charger is my next car...its half the cost of a loaded E63S and will walk on it all day long...wheels and coilovers will enhance the handling and you're still under $70k...price is really not a factor for me as i want the fastest sedan out there
Check out the review of the Hellcat Challenger as a reference for what this Charger will pack....
The dodge numbers are impressive. Glad you like it

Previous generation (c6 Z06) has run a 10.9 on STOCK tires, and a 10.71 on drag tires.
The new generation has 145 more horsepower (650) and more than 220lb-ft more torque in the midrange.
Being 3100lbs and having room for 345s on stock wheels means power mods (its also supercharged) wont just create tire smoke or activate the TC.
