Cant believe all the effort put into buying wheels and snow tires. And still no need for them in Wisconsin!

On dry pavement with my summers this e63 is a very dangerous car under 30 F
I slide all over the place until the tires get warm

Oh, I know they will be needed. Just haven't had a chance to see what the car is like in slippery weather yet. Looks like we are due for a little snow tonight

just got about 8 inches of heavy snow in chicagoland -- this thing is useless in the snow without snow tires... as planned, it is NOW officially retired for the season, we had a good run

Snow Tires?
I have a hotel in northern Vermont. One of my greatest peeves is people that come in the winter with summer tires or less than aggressive "all season" tires. Last week I had to work out a Honda SUV that had just one wheel off the driveway surface. Apparently they had just put on the "all season" tires! Anybody with reasoning skills will have winter tires in Vermont in winter. "All season" means "all seasons but one". I have had 5 4matic wagons since '99, always with winter tires (either Pirelli or Michelin X-Ice), and I have never been stuck even in fairly deep snow. Having seen the weather in the mid-West this winter, I think anybody in Wisconsin without snow tires has his head up his exhaust.

Yup snow tires definately needed unless you have real truck tires. I had a Mitsubishi Eclipse AWD years back and I could spin all 4 wheels with ease in the snow. Blizzacks on and it drove like my jeep wrangler through the snow.

Looking at OP's post, I am just shaking my head. I moved from the Midwest to East Coast to get *away* from snow, and this year we consistently got more of it.
I'm thinking though, a good set of Conti ExtremeContact DWS definitely qualifies for NE winters. Work fine on my C300, and probably well on that Honda SUV that got stuck

Almost April, and still haven't needed the snow tires! We were cold as hell, but little snow. Maybe next year.

As long as you don't need that car at any time, you can throw the dice. We have one car and lots of snow. I am switching to my summer Pirellis this coming week, praying for no snow before we head to sunshine.

Flurries here today. I'm planning on pulling the winter tires off next weekend.
The stock summer Conti's were atrocious in the cold that first Fall when I bought the car. No grip and bad rumbles until the sidewalls warmed up.
