Sunglass holder and amg pins

All in all took about 20 min for all

Nice cheap mods

Easily faster by a couple tenths!

What a coincidence!

I was just looking these up today based on a tip from a friend. 😉

Here is what I learned and/or have questions about:

Sunglass holder:

good bang for the buck. Cant get it in US without using either Ebay or ordering it from Canadanian dealership. I suspect it is due to some safety legislation with removing the useless handle that nobody uses anyway. Also, it sounds like sunglass holder is a bit of a misnomer. Too small for any larger popular style sunglasses. Should be called eye glasses holder. Any truth to my research?

Door pins:

$40+ per pin? Seems a bit steep but not prohibitive. But I read that the pins require taking the door panels off? Shouldn't they just be able to screw onto their respective threaded stems? I also read something about the rear stems, if you went with all 4, come off far too easy???

So this is what I found in some other threads that may or may not be accurate.

I know our reputable boy Peter will confirm or correct whatever I just reported. Since he just did this he will know all the details.

Thanks in Advance Peter.

Excellent questions vrod

Ec tuning sold me my sunglass holder for like $20 shipped from eBay. Holds my fake-bans just fine lol

The rear pins do NOT require the panels to come off. You pull the cheap plastic ones off with pliers and per jpmbenz' recommendation you use loctite on the new pins and push them on. The front ones screw on and off

The fake pins are identical to the oem Benz pins from what I read .. You'll be very happy with them

Lemme know if you decide to do it... Easy horsepower!!!

I didn't realize Loctite was recommended, I wish I knew as one of my rears has disappeared! I'm pretty sure either my 5 or 4 year old is responsible

Did you get the "fake" pins on Ebay also? If not, where?

BTW I just received my new seat control chrome buttons to replace the black cheap looking OEM ones. I think the 2014 have the chrome ones already don't they?

Yup '14 has the chrome

I got the oem pins but read many many members here have the fake ones and they are identical in quality --- eBay "w212 amg door pins" ... Should be about $45 shipped for the set of four

What is the process of installing the holder?

There are two plastic pins that keep the two plastic clips in place on each side of the handle... Remove these with a flathead

Rock the handle towards you until it pops out and then insert the sunglasses holder in its place and replace those plastic pins now in the sunglass holders fasteners

Maybe takes 45 seconds ...
