Resonator delete

Hey guys,

I currently have an e63 14', i have my ams catted downpipes and it sounds nice, but I need it louder. Would deleting the resonator cause loss in low end torque?

This can be debated to hell and back.
On my E63 I have Catless dp and x pipe. Sound incredible
On my CLS I have just reso delete, with straight pipe in place, I don't like the sound

Nice, do you feel any loss of power? At low speed and high speed..

Well it's hard to experience any power loss at 600hp levels... so I'd say no.

True, but If we you race with rs7's and m6's it does matter haha

Rather not start a new thread. Same question as OP, going to get this done in 2 days so if anyone can chime in that would be great. Coming from a 15 WK2 SRT, deleting the resonator was pretty straight forward. Take out res and replace with a straight pipe. Im assuming the same thing goes for my 14 e63s? First AMG so I'm more hesitant.

1) Should i expect any codes to come up after this mod? I didn't have any come up in the SRT so I'm hoping its the same with the benz.
2) Doing this strictly for noise and I've read some owners delete the cats as well? Should I even bother with the cats or will deleting the res be more than enough?

I will highly suggest making it at least a H-pipe not just straight pipes. Balance the pulses from one bank to the other. I did straight pipes and even though I liked it, I feel like some minute part of the refined sound was lost

Agreed, put a H pipe in there. I went straight pipe in place of resonator at first and it lost the refined sound, it also pulsed really bad, shakes the car at some points. Maybe it was in my head but it didn't feel a peepy down low either.

Went back a week later added a H pipe in that section and couldn't be happier, sounds and feels GREAT!

Awesome thanks for the help fellas. Ill definitely be going that route than. Delete res, replace with H pipe and call it a day? Don't touch anything else (ex: cats)? No codes of any such come up? The car in the video looks identical to mine so I can't wait now!

The video I posted of mine was catless so yours will be a bit more tame sounding with a little less spool also I'm guessing.

No codes will happen from a resonator delete.

@ M-Theory: Had the reso delete done. Change was subtle to say the least, the SRT had more bark when i had that done. Thinking of going catless now to. Not to sure how many the AMG has so figured i'd ask you since you've already had it done. If anyone else can chime in that would be great. Cheers.

* Do i delete ALL the cats? I've read somewhere that their are secondary cats to this AMG as well. Never had cats removed so do they just replace it with a straight pipe?
* Are their any downsides to doing a cat delete?

Only if you have to pass a smog test in your state.

H Pipe

Where can I get an H pipe, is there a company that sells them for our car? Around where I live we don't have any good "performance" shops, at least not for Mercedes.

I did the cat delete and res delete for about a week. I found it to be just aa little too loud at WOT. It kinda sounds like a tractor at idle. Put the res back and sounds great. I'm always getting compliments on the sound of exhaust from friends and strangers. It will also smell once you take out the cats. Which I can live with.

Any exhaust shop can make and install an H pipe.
