Whew, I thought the entire car was about to be plastidipped.
Looks good. Dipping badges is easy so if you need to touch it up ever you know how to.

I doubt he did, but if he did, you definitely don't have to and actually shouldn't.
If you're interested in doing it yourself, here is the best way:
Using painters tape - tape a rectangle around the badges giving yourself a few extra inches of space around the badges. I would also tape off around it a good area because to avoid having to rub off small amounts of overspray.
Clean the badges off so there isn't any dirty on them or anything.
Start coating. I'm a fan of going light and just applying 4-5-6+ coats of plastidip. This way you don't risk any drips. Just a smooth application. At the end you want it to be thick enough so that when you peal it doesn't tear apart into a bunch of little pieces.
Remove tape and peal the excess dip carefully around the badges. Because the badges are raised, when you peal around them the plastidip will stay on the badge and peal off your paint. You won't really have to worry about separating the dip on the car from the dip on the badges.
And done. It's a fairly simple process and the nice thing about plastidip is if you mess up it comes right off. I would start on the rear badges (or something easy) though before diving into things like your grill or whatever.
Lastly - I would do it in a garage/closed space that doesn't get a breeze. This will minimize overspray.

It is a process, and patience is a large part of it, but it is a simple process.
My best advice would be go buy a can and use it on something else. Get familiar with the stuff to get a little confident and then off to the races once you realize how easy it is.

No. Unless you want to have them fall off when you reinstall them, it's BEST to leave them attached and just plastidip over. I covered the entire area with newspaper and blue tape. Put a square around each emblem and did 4 coats with a 30 minute break in between.

You don't. But as long as you apply enough coats you can stick something like a toothpick in the small spaces and peal away that way. It sounds tedious, but the amount of dip you have to get out of the small spots is next to nothing. And if it is on properly / thick enough it'll come off just as easy as the rest of the dip.

Here's a visual play-by-play from when I did it. It's truly as easy as it sounds. And if you do mess up, you can just peel it off and start over. I ended up going with 6 coats at 30-minute intervals.

Helpful info here. I am going to try it out when it gets a bit warmer out. To clarify it is ok to get spray on the paint and it will peel off without any harm or residue? Use a toothpick to remove edges and inside letters?

I am always worried of putting them back on crooked. Plus it seems with plastidip you can easily go back

No harm, no residue. Comes right off. And just go light with the toothpick. You'll see when you do it. Definitely do it when it is a bit warmer though

You need to add the amg grill badge ... they didn't add those until late 2014 and beyond
