Help!! 2016 E63S shaking after right rear quarter panel collision
Hey guys, so fairly new to this forum,
i was in a little bit of a fender bender in a Best Buy parking lot with my W212 2016 E63S. Someone backed out of a spot as I was sitting at a stop sign and hit the rear passenger quarter panel of the car. Dented it pretty good but figured I'd go through insurance since the car is a lease.
after having the car fixed (aesthetically) I've noticed a really bad shaking above 80 mph, I figured the shop would have fixed all the issues with the car but upon pick up I noticed it was pretty bad. No issues before the accident with the car so I contacted the auto body who was payed by my insurance on my drive home mentioning the issue. I have yet to get the car back to them though since I've been busy but I would like to troubleshoot the car myself so I can help them diagnose the issue since I will br returning the car shortly.
At first the auto auto body mentioned it could be a bent rim. While the car was impacted just above the rim, I didn't think it was possible the impact could have bent the rim, but we never know. My second thought was that the impact could have contacted the air suspension. This is my first Mercedes and first air suspension in a car so I'm not sure what the issue could possibly be attribute to. The collision was while my car was stopped and someone was backing out, so it was by no means a high speed collision,
could my suspension be damage, or has anyone dealt with anything like this before?
thanks guys and any feedback is greatly appreciated!!

with that impact and its placement, there is a good chance you probably bent that wheel. If you went through insurance to fix it, they should have driven the car and noticed that, but you can always take it back to a shop and get a supplement repair for the claim if the tire and wheel are in fact damaged.

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
Or the shop jacked the rim during a test dive
This won't be a suspension problem First thing to do is check that rim and if it's fine you can have them road force Balance the tire ... if that checks out then there are other issues

i run a auto repair shop. Anytime there is a collision where the rim ,tire has taken an impact. Is advised to replace all parts and not try and piece the problems

Hey guys,
thanks again for the replys, the auto body mentioned it could be a rim issue, I was scared it was more than that. Funny part is you can see the black dot on the rim pictured. Just had that one replaced before I was backed into. I've never expected Mercedes amg to use a cast wheel. For the cost of the car they should be forged.

Aside from that, 6061 is just an alloy of aluminum. It can be cast or forged.

I am aware that it can be cast and forged. But I did not know those weren’t. You would assume we would get forged wheels period for what we paid
