consecutive Race Starts - steering groaning noise?

Was experimenting with Race Start vs brake torgue process to launch the car and after 4-5 back to back launches over say 15 minutes i get this slight groaning sound from the front end whenever i barely turned the steering wheel in either direction....

you can hear the sound in the video i uploaded to you tube.

car is stock, 2015 with 21k miles and no issues. noise goes away after shutting off car and cooling off for 30-60 mins. the noise only comes up after consecutive Race Starts and when you barely turn the steering wheel. I took it to the dealer and they said they couldnt find any issue or hear the noise, but i am not confident they road tested as i advised them to do using 3-4 Race Starts as it comes up every time i've experimented with RC.

anyone else experience this? assuming its steering related vs front transmission components but am only guessing as to why repeated race start would affect the steering

sounds like the steering rack not the pump...

perhaps the rack stiffens up in race start ... thought I read something about that a while ago

Peter - that maybe whats going on... where did you read about that? if you have a link or article shoot it over.

i would be curious to hear from other owners to test 4-5 race starts consecutively and see if they experience this same noise?

would assume an AMG should be able to Race Start more than a few times without issue..... WTF if a Porsche can do 50 launches controls non stop with no issues, really???

thanks vdub - any idea why the rubber housing on the struts would make that noise only after multiple race starts and never a sound under normal driving???

nope....ive had mine rpelaced twice and there is no good reason why they make the noise, some have said due to lack of grease between the components...

i dont think i ve even gotten my race start to work in 6 yrs, lol

Maybe do the five race starts and then drive it right into the dealer for a diagnosis while it's doing it

I have had this same groan...and its getting really quite annoying. Three trips to the dealer, and they have replaced the parts. Not using race start....it is 100x worse in the cold weather!!! Is there a solution, that really works?

what did they replace for you? bummer you still have the issue and they cant figure it out.

i only get the noise after 4-5 race starts regardless of the weather. it goes away after say 30 mins as the car has cooled down. will get it back to the dealer once the snow clears up in Chicago here and advise them to test after using Race Starts and see what they say. also, not found any documentation (manual or electronic in vehicle) about frequency of using race start or issues caused but will keep digging. thx
