No power / please help.

Yesterday my daughter was driving the car to the mall and when she went to park, got distracted and went up on the curb. She struggled getting the car off the curb. She called me later and told me the car was dead and would not start. I went and jumped the car and it took along tine to jump, battery was completely dead. Once the car started, I could tell I had another issue. The cars rpm was going up to 2500 rpm and then dropping and kept doing this for a little while and then settled down to about 1100 rpm, which is higher than normal. Went to drive the car and noticed the esc inoperative light came on and car had no power and would not go over 1200 rpms. Got the car home and thought maybe the ecm needs flashed and I disconnected the battery over night. Still same problem this morning. Scanned the car and had p061b, p0101, p0507. Has anyone else had this problem.

What year is your car?

sometimes jumping it can mess the computer up if done incorrectly, what was your method?

whats the voltage across the battery this morning?

i suspect you have a pcm or ecu problem and whether it is chicken or egg is unclear based on the data you present. Not sure what the curb has to do with anything but did a harness get damaged under the car? Did you check? Perhaps the car was revving irregularly and that's why she couldn't get it off the curb or perhaps that's why she got it on the curb

First, take her phone away!

Maybe something is shorting out from the curb incident and draining the battery as well as causing limp mode.

Car is a 2010. I didn't think the curb had anything to do with it but wanted to make sure I said everything in case it did. I'm not sure about the voltage right now. I'm on vacation away from the house and don't have any tools with me. The battery hasn't given me any problems starting the car since it was jumped.

I'm not sure by what you mean by my method of jumping the car. I hooked the positive up to the positive and negative to the negative.

I looked under the car and didn't notice anything unusual. Everything looked normal. Do you know what triggers our cars to go in limp mode and have the esc inoperative message come on?

Check voltage across the battery, ... lots of things can cause limp and esc inoperative ....

for example:

Aux battery?? I had a mountain of other issues that was caused by a faulty auxiliary battery, but nothing with RPM jumping.

This happened to me with 2008 BMW 535 turbo

I hit a pothole and ESC came on. I had to get the car align because the front wheels were out of alignment causing yaw sensor to put the car into limp mode. I had the car align and reset by disconnecting battery and all was good.
Is your alignment off since she hit the curb.

Did you check your MAF see if the connection came loose

Check your airbox if they came apart from the hit.

Ensure your key fob is not in the ignition when connecting jumper cables or disconnecting/connecting the main battery. When the key fob is in the ignition the circuits are energized and the arcing at the battery can blow fuses and/or damage digital modules. The info below is for the W211 and W219 but would apply to yours. If you jump start the car you obviously have to have the key in the ignition while disconnecting the jumper cables but your charging system will stabilize the circuit. If your car has a battery control module, the negative jumper cable should be attached to its bolt-on ground point.
