Stage 2 tune at 112,000kms?

Hey guys I picked up a E63s the other day with 110,000kms, I wanted to get a tune. Do you think stuff will start breaking right off the bat? I really dont want any major issues. I'm getting it done at a independent shop that specializes in AMGs and Lambos with a few porches here and there.

Shops called XoticPowerHaus heres the ig: https://instagram.com/xoticpowerhaus...d=4g0kpi56p9bz

He has a sale on a stage 2 tune for $1500 he says it produces 740hp and I get custom downpipes as well as a burble tune. This week is the last before prices go back to normal. But I'm having second thoughts, maybe my car cant handle that at this age. (2014 E63s 112,000kms)

Make sure they know what they are doing and stand behind the product (warranty if anything happens). There are a lot of fly by night tuners out there.

Any improvement in performance will accelerate the wear and tear on the car. Will it start breaking things right away? Probably a lot depends on how well the car was previously maintained, how hard it was driven, what region of the country is was operated in, previous tunes that were flashed back to stock, and probably some dumb luck. You will always break things, it’s just a matter of how soon.

My cardiologist has some interesting advice for me - he said I would die of heart disease at some point in my life. But lifestyle changes and medication could keep it from happening at 60 instead of 80. I view a car tune the same way.

lol i like this

IMO, i would find a common tuner and talk to members, do research here on the dependable tune our community is running. Stay away from aggressive burbles, not healthy for the long run.
With tuning comes some changes, as mentioned, fresh new oem spark plugs tq'd correctly, air filters on check, more frequent oil changes, and oil level checks, a code reader, and if you have the time to research or a friend who has one, a quick datalog to show the health and performance post tune.

I dont see any reason a healthy, maintained M157 with a good known tune wouldnt love it

+1 for new plugs ideally one step colder (NGK 1555’s) on a stage 2 tune and BE SURE they are indexed properly on install which most tuners don’t know to do. Would also get new boots while your doing plugs as they are 10 bux US for MB OEM.

Would also get your fuel injectors checked for any irregular values and take a quick borescope of the cylinder walls to ensure no unusual wear which any reputable MB tuner should have the equipment and expertise to do.

I had mine done at 107,000kms. Stage 2, custom tune, catless down pipes, racing plugs, air filters etc. Price was considerably higher than your quote, but again, it was a custom tune: not plug and play. As it was a first gen M157, the divorced cooling system didn't exist, so the fan will come on from start to assist with keeping oil temps down. These little touches make a difference. He deliberately pulled the power and torque back as it's a daily driver and highway hauler. I didn't want a drag car, it had to be liveable and not lose it's sensibilities. Ended up with a comfortable 670bhp at the crank and 1000nm torque. Just hit 135,000kms last week, still going strong.

Sounds good! thanks it looks like Ill go for it then, I know someone with the first gen m157 as well with the same tune so I'd assume it would be less stress on my second gen setup

Thanks everyone I appreciate all the advice! I think I'll go for the tune, I spoke with someone that owns an e63 that got the tune from the same shop and he said its been great! The tuner also works on multiple amgs and TT Lambos. so I think hes my best bang for the buck with the tune on sale.$1500 for stage 2 with downpipes and a sport mode light burble tune. He also said he has to source the tune overnight since its coming from Germany (its our night during their day). Don't know if any ones heard of this before but yea.
